Touch of Modern is the leading ecommerce app for men to discover cutting edge products. Catering to male millennial tastemakers, Touch of Modern focuses on offering unique and new-to-market products not easily found at traditional retailers, with more than 250+ new items added daily.


The Assistant Buyer contributes to Touch of Modern’s success by assisting the Buyer in day-to-day aspects of buying and merchandising in key areas of the business including reporting, sales analysis, and communication. The Assistant Buyer will help develop product assortments for the Touch of Modern merchant team that are first to market, competitive, and ensure financial success (sales, gross margin, and inventory turn fill rates) by analyzing product trends and historical data.


This role reports into the Senior Buyer.


What you get to do every day:

  • Works with a senior buyer to book new events or re-run profitable events
  • Maintains and distributes accurate business recap reports (daily sales, inventory, sales trends etc.) used for analyzing the business and communicating with vendors.
  • Works with Buyer to determine product information required to run events
  • Takes ownership for gathering and entering merchandise information into the product database
  • Works with Creative Services team and Buyer to manage event timelines, deadlines, and accuracy. Assists with identifying content, copy and photography needs.
  • Proofs website, product detail pages (PDP), emails and signage for accuracy (including features & benefits copy, silo and environment photography and SKU level detail).
  • Builds professional relationships with vendors and responds to vendor requests for information. Prepares reports for vendor meetings and recaps meeting details and action items for buyers and vendors.


What you bring to the role:

  • Experience in buying or merchandise planning. Merchandise buying/planning experience in a retail environment preferred.
  • Understanding of retail math
  • 1-2 years’ experience performing data analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word, with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Retail experience strongly preferred.
  • Able to manage and prioritize multiple deliverables
  • Familiarity with website design, visual merchandising, and eCommerce preferred.
  • Located in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, or Quebec.
