Full Job Description
Construction workers play a vital role in building
projects, contributing their physical and skilled labor to various
construction activities. Their responsibilities include site
preparation, manual labor, material handling, assistance with
equipment operation, and engagement in tasks related to concrete work,
demolition, installation, and assembly. Construction workers
collaborate with teammates, adhere to safety regulations, and read
blueprints to ensure project specifications are met. Their duties also
encompass tool maintenance, quality control, and problem-solving
on-site. As key contributors to the construction industry, these
workers are essential in executing tasks that range from basic
carpentry to complex concrete formwork, all while maintaining records
of work performed and materials used.
Key
Responsibilities include:
- Loading, unloading and transporting construction materials
- Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades.
- Mix, pour, and spread materials, assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction, and contribute to asphalt paving and raking.
- Building demolition, cleaning and piling salvaged materials, and addressing environmental concerns such as chemical spills.
- Tend to and feed machines, direct traffic at construction sites, and read and interpret blueprints.
- Operation of cranes, including cleaning and lubrication
Construction laborers are integral to the smooth execution
of construction activities, performing diverse tasks to ensure project
success.
Qualifications
3 to 5 years of experience as a construction worker or
similar position.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification in the field is an asset but not mandatory
