Role Overview - IPT Director
As the Energy Storage and Power System (ESPS) Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead at Wisk, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing the design, integration, certification, and delivery of aircraft battery packs, battery management systems, and power distribution across the aircraft. Collaboration with interfacing IPTs such as Avionics, Propulsion, EWIS, and Passenger Systems will be crucial in this position.
In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise and business insight to guide program and technical decisions, establishing objectives that align with the program's timeline. You will oversee the planning and coordination of resources necessary to carry out the program.
Ideal candidates will employ established methods to ensure adherence to schedules and budgets, manage risks, confirm product technical maturity, and guarantee that their team's technical outputs meet the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities of the IPT Director:
- Lead the IPT's technical development efforts in architecture, design, development, integration, validation, performance, certification, and production.- Collaborate with other IPT Leads, Chief Engineers, Functional Managers, the Program Office, and Company Leadership to ensure successful program planning and execution.- Hold authority and accountability for the IPT's technical scope, ensuring alignment with the schedule and budget.- Contribute to the overall Program success by defining and managing schedule inputs and changes within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), and maintaining effective change management.- Vigilantly monitor technical maturity, addressing any issues that impede progress immediately, and swiftly implement corrective actions and recovery plans.- Organize and oversee activities for formal validation and verification, encompassing all test activities.- Execute and adhere to risk management activities to oversee program technical, schedule, and cost risks.- Manage the engineering review, approval, and release processes for all critical deliverables. Facilitate multidisciplinary program reviews and presentations across various development, certification, and production readiness phases with both internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements of the IPT Director:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another relevant STEM field.- 15+ years of experience in aerospace engineering development and leadership with responsibility for scheduling and team/personnel management.- 5+ years of experience in leading a multi-functional, technically-oriented, Integrated Product Team.- Detailed knowledge of high and low voltage electrical power distribution topologies.- 5+ years of experience working with aerospace technologies, products, and services.- Strong engineering analytical and technical skills with demonstrated experience delivering integrated technical solutions.- Strong communication and excellent soft skills to work across the whole organization.- Experience performing cost and schedule management.- Experience with risk, issues, and/or opportunity management.- Strong decision-making abilities.- Effective at managing a wide range of tasks and rapidly changing priorities.- Knowledge of systems engineering and systems safety analyses and processes, including SAE ARP 4754A, Advisory Circular 23.1309-1E, SAE ARP 4761 as well as Part 25/29 certification requirements.
