POSITION SUMMARY

The MES Business Analyst/ Programmer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing execution systems (MES) to optimize production processes. Their duties include analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, developing solutions, integrating MES software with other systems, and providing technical support. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the MES meets the organization’s operational needs and objectives. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical skills are essential for this role.

* Available to work on-call according to a pre-determined schedule to respond to emergency calls outside regular hours and to travel occasionally to other sites based on project needs or requests for support. *

RESPONSIBILITIES

· System Analysis and Design: Assess manufacturing processes and requirements to design MES solutions that streamline operations, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

· Implementation and Configuration: Install, configure, and customize MES software to meet specific business needs, integrating it with existing systems such as ERP and SCADA.

· Data Analysis and Optimization: Analyze manufacturing data collected by the MES to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement. Develop and implement strategies to optimize production processes, minimize downtime, and enhance overall productivity.

· Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshoot issues with MES software and hardware, and implement solutions to resolve problems quickly and efficiently to minimize production disruptions.

· Testing and Validation: Conduct testing and validation activities to ensure the reliability, accuracy, and functionality of the MES system, including performing system upgrades, patches, and enhancements.

· Documentation: Create documentation such as standard operating procedures and technical specifications.

· Collaboration and Stakeholders: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, IT, engineering, and quality assurance, to gather requirements, prioritize tasks, and coordinate efforts to implement and maintain the MES system. Communicate with stakeholders to provide updates, gather feedback, and address concerns.

· Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to MES to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation in manufacturing processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

· University diploma in computer science or business studies – in a field related to the position – equivalent relevant experience or Process Engineer.

EXPERIENCE

· 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.

· Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Experience in working with manufacturing solutions and systems in a number of functional areas such as: product lifecycle management, resource/raw material management, production process planning, production order dispatch and execution, production data collection, production performance analysis, and production audits.

· Proficiency in OSIsoft PI, Proficy or similar products.

· Proficiency in T-SQL databases (SQ Script, Stored Procedures, Function, SQL Job, DB administration).

· Proficiency in SSAS (analysis services), SSIS (integration services), Data Warehouse and reporting solutions (SSRS, Cognos, etc.).

· Knowledge of Ekhosoft, Visual Studio, C# and/or HTML an asset.

· Very good knowledge of GE Plant Applications.

· Ability to work independently, strong customer-service orientation, and organizational skills.

· Good communication skills and the ability to adapt to change.

LANGUAGES

· Bilingual - written and oral in both French and English is a must.


Knowledge of English is required for this specific position as Kruger deals with partners across North America and the successful candidate will be required to communicate frequently with them.
