Your role

 

Join our team as a Project Manager  with the Southern Ontario Business Unit to support one of our key client's program of work in various communites in the GTA and Southern Ontario.

 

In this role, you’ll join our team of experts who work commercial and retail capital building projects. You will act as a trusted advisor to our client, representing their interests at all times to multiple stakeholders and providing technical and project leadership to the teams they oversee. Our people are not only Project Managers, they are Project Leaders who take a client-centric approach to project delivery, contributing to our clients’ successes by helping them build amazing workplaces, businesses, and communities.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

What you’ll get to do as a Project Manager:

  • Develop strong client relationships and act as the client’s single point of contact throughout the project to achieve the client’s strategy and goals
  • Lead capital programs and projects of work, varying in size and scope and numbering between 10 – 15 at any given time
  • Travel to different client sites across southern Ontario to actively manage construction and commissioning activities and interact with project stakeholders and oversee compliance with client processes and systems, approximately three days a week
  • Ensure client expectations are met or exceeded on all projects and the client’s best interests are represented with respect to contractual and technical issues
  • Select, organize, and influence the performance of multi-disciplined project teams
  • Lead client and project meetings. Manage multiple stakeholders and communication streams
  • Maintain contact with existing and prospective clients and respond to business development and sales opportunities with support from the Business Development Managers, Principals or Vice President
  • Report regularly on project status by means of schedule updates, meeting minutes, financial records, and other reports
  • Provide oversight and leadership of contractors and consultants
  • Review and recommend payment certificates and other contract or project related administrative documents
  • Oversee the control of project related documents and deliver all work in accordance with the client’s Quality Management System and procedures
Qualifications
  • A College or University degree or diploma in architecture, project management, construction management, or engineering (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in project coordination and management for significant projects in the commercial, retail, hospitality, and/or industrial sectors
  • Strong knowledge of various construction methodologies, project management models and financial management, as well as building codes, contract law and relevant legislation
  • Strong knowledge of commissioning experience in the commercial project and program management area
  • You have experience leading construction and commissioning/handover capital projects in the retail, commercial, or industrial sectors
  • You have experience delivering multiple projects in parallel with the support from team members
  • Your clients trust you and rely on your knowledge, skills, and expertise to achieve their business goals and objectives
  • You have a general understanding of real estate brokerage and property management industries
  • You have the ability to manage projects and stakeholders while spaces are occupied, being mindful of the impact of disruptions on operations
  • Your clients are impressed with your ability to represent their best interests regarding contractual and technical issues
  • Your project teams rely on your ability to manage change, communicate, and coordinate between multiple stakeholders, resolve issues, and deliver projects on time and on budget
  • You have experience managing design consultants and construction teams for projects within the commercial interior office, retail, and/or industrial sector
  • Must be able to work on-site 3 to 4 days a week at different client locations, and in a hybrid office environment
  • Professional industry credentials such as PMP, LEED AP
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with a proven ability to effectively influence others and resolve client, project, and technical issues
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in MS Project, MS Word, and MS Excel
