Full Job Description

As a Project Manager on the Retail Construction and Network Development team you will provide input to the Manager of Construction and Acquisitions, to identify and develop capital requirements. They will also Oversee and facilitate the execution of all building and petroleum construction projects at existing and new to industry Irving gas stations and cardlock locations Your goal will be ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies while also ensuring construction project success, on-time execution and adherence to related processes, codes and standards. Your success will be dependent on your ability to manage the projects you are assigned along with an ability to connect with stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities:   

  • Manage retail innovation including EV, Solar, Biofuels as well as emerging green energy solutions.
  • Be present at construction sites, inspect workmanship and develop solutions as required.
  • Identify areas of improvement in construction process and implement changes (vendor contracts, warranty programs, inspection programs, etc.).
  • Track and report monthly on project spending and budgets.
  • Manage multiple projects, including rollouts and retrofit projects to existing network.
  • Work with local legislation to secure timely & appropriate permitting.
  • Monitor and drive project schedule to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Conduct post-mortem reviews to identify and implement process improvements and share with the team and stakeholders.
  • Coordination of all third-party contractors, designers, and vendors.
  • Ensure all safety requirements are in place during all stages of project from the design phase through to implementation.
  • Maintain project files and payment applications, back-up documentation for chargebacks and claims.
  • Manage external design consultants from design to implementation phases.

Your Skills :  

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and understand building codes and regulations.
  • Disciplined approach to project execution, including record keeping/documentation.
  • Must have ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Your Experience:   

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years Construction experience required.
  • Petroleum Background Preferred.
  • Knowledge of Petroleum Regulations and ability to interact with Regulators to ensure compliance with legislation would be an asset.
