As Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will:


  • Review and understand job specifications and drawings and follow through with estimating process to develop competitive bids.
  • Conduct site/tender walkthrough to cross reference drawings to avoid site interferences and identify proactive solutions.
  • Produce material and labour take-off through estimating software to develop accurate quotations.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders to gather information, clarify specifications, wording, etc. and in meetings and presentations with clients and partners.
  • Coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain pricing to include within the final quotation provided to client.
  • Participate in closing the bid including bid review meetings, etc.
  • Participate in hand over meeting with Project management team after award.
  • Supporting and occasionally lead specific Alternate Financing & Procurement (AFP) Integrated Pursuits with a mechanical focus.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 7-10 years of estimating experience in mechanical estimating or the mechanical construction industry.
  • Mechanical Engineering degree, diploma, or related education, and/or trade experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Accubid Enterprise is a definite asset.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and industrial piping systems. Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to perform accurate quantity take-offs, prepare cost estimates, and develop detailed proposals using estimating software and tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interactions, proposal presentations, and negotiations. Clear communication of technical information.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to mentor junior estimators, collaborate with teams, and foster a positive work environment.
  • Thorough understanding of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements. Awareness of new technologies and construction methods.
