Position Overview:

As the Senior Structural Engineer - Sustainability Lead, you will spearhead our efforts to address the critical issue of embodied carbon in building materials. You will be at the forefront of our sustainability initiatives, driving innovation, and implementing best practices across all aspects of our projects. You will collaborate closely with our engineering teams, clients, and stakeholders to integrate sustainable design principles, and your insights will guide us in setting meaningful metrics to gauge our performance and drive continuous improvement in sustainability practices.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of sustainable design strategies for structural steel projects, including reduced embodied carbon designs, material optimization, and waste reduction.
  • Champion the collection and analysis of embodied carbon data from our projects, providing valuable insights to inform decision-making.
  • Conduct lifecycle assessments and environmental impact analyses to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies related to carbon reduction and sustainable engineering practices.
  • Act as a thought leader and advocate for sustainability, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external partners.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering, with a demonstrated focus on sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives.
  • Proficiency in sustainability assessment tools.
  • Strong understanding of embodied carbon principles and their application in building design and construction.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire and influence others towards sustainable practices.
  • Track record of successfully leading sustainability initiatives and driving change within an organization.
