Full Job Description

The Sustainability Consultant* is pivotal in driving ConnectSeven Group's sustainability initiatives within the tourism and events sector. This role primarily focuses on leveraging sustainability knowledge and training to develop and implement regenerative tourism and event projects. While experience in tourism is advantageous, the primary requirement is a deep understanding of sustainability and/or environmental frameworks, models, and best practices. The ideal candidate will demonstrate consulting experience in research projects, strategies, sustainable audits/assessments, and training programs complemented by a strong educational background. Proficiency in client and project management is a requirement of the role.

Location : Work from home/remote (note that the ability to work within a Canadian time zone is preferred).

Duration : Full-time (30-40 hours per week) is ideal, but additional formats (part-time, term contracts, etc.) will be considered for the right candidate


Objectives of this Role:

·       Ensure the delivery of innovative sustainability projects that elevate client satisfaction and industry standards.

·       Utilize advanced sustainability knowledge to develop strategic initiatives that promote regenerative practices and long-term growth within municipalities, cities and regions (within businesses is considered an asset).

·       Use and enhance our advanced regenerative frameworks and tools to identify strategic opportunities that enhance destinations' sustainable positioning and foster long-term growth.


Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Lead and/or oversee regenerative tourism projects such as sustainable strategies, experience development, assessments, action plans, and training programs for destinations, tourism stakeholders and events.

·       Scope of projects to include proposal writing, stakeholder engagement, client meetings, project management, research, analysis, strategy development and innovation.

·     Utilize advanced sustainability frameworks and tools to guide clients and stakeholders in sustainable practices.

·       Lead sustainability benchmarking and analysis using our Global Destination Sustainability Index.

·       Oversee and lead the day-to-day management of the project, clients and teams including budget and time management

·       Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans

·       Develop and conduct training sessions and workshops on sustainability practices for tourism stakeholders.

·       Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop innovative sustainability approaches, models and projects for destinations, events and tourism stakeholders

·       Support business development and lead generation


Experience and Assets:

·       Bachelor's or Master's degree in sustainability, environmental science, urban planning, sustainable tourism or related field

·       Minimum of 3 years of experience in sustainability consulting, with a focus on regenerative practices, or a mix of education and experience (within a community and/or urban context is advantageous).

·       Strong knowledge of sustainability frameworks, models, and assessment tools within areas such as decarbonization, circular economy, social sustainability, climate change mitigation and adaption, renewable energies, etc. (or any combination of these).

·       Strong analytical and writing skills with the ability to translate complex information into actionable recommendations.

·       Experience in tourism, events or hospitality is beneficial but not mandatory.

·       Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.

·       Ability to deliver engaging training sessions and workshops.

·       Proficiency in sustainability reporting and analysis.

·       Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

·       High level of professionalism and autonomy in work execution.

·       Fluency in English (additional languages are advantageous).

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and collaboration tools like Slack.

·       Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive change in the tourism industry.
