On a daily basis, you will.
- Understand project scope and estimating requirements.
- Contribute to the development of best practices in project estimation.
- Coordinate the cost estimation team.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of basic material prices.
- Analyze data (quantities and prices) to ensure interdisciplinary consistency of estimates.
- Coordinate with the construction group to validate installation times and indirect construction costs.
- Prepare bases of estimates.
- Propose allocations for design elements that are not clearly defined.
- Analyze bids to fully understand the content of proposals received.
- Supervise and maintain cost estimating guidelines at GCM for projects of various sizes and different phases of engineering development.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (asset).
- Between 2 and 5 years of experience in project cost estimation.
- Experience in project management (asset)
- Experienced in establishing the required deliverables for service proposals in consulting engineering.
- Relevant experience in consulting engineering and heavy industries: metallurgy, refining, chemical or petrochemical.
- Strong expertise in the field of construction.
- Proficiency in cost estimation tools and software.
- Knowledge of Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (asset)
- Fluency in French and English required occasionally since the person will collaborate with colleagues and clients outside of Quebec, both written and oral .

**Job Description**
**AECOM** is searching for a junior or intermediate **Civil Engineering EIT, Civil Engineer, or Civil Engineering Technologist** for a **new position** based in our **Burnaby, BC** office.
The ideal candidate will have a general understanding of civil design, construction, MMCD and/or NMS standards and some experience in construction services. They will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and clients. They will have strong communication and problem-solving skills to manage communications among contractors, clients, and third parties.
The successful candidate will be expected to support the delivery of water resources (drainage, green infrastructure, pump stations, erosion control, etc.) assignments in municipal, highway and mining projects. At times, it may be required to support other sanitary and water projects (mains, reservoirs, pump stations, etc.).
This role is based out of our Burnaby office but will require regular travel to project sites in the Vancouver Lower Mainland and in the Sea to Sky area. The position may require travelling to northern BC, Yukon, or the NWT for short-term assignments.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Perform construction site inspections
+ Prepare construction inspection reports
+ Organize construction meetings and write meeting minutes
+ Coordinate with discipline leads, engineers-of-records and designers to respond to requests for information
+ Write memos to respond to requests for information
+ Keep the project files organized on a continuous basis
+ Review contemplated change orders submitted by contractors
+ Complete contract administration documentation
+ Support the design team in writing specifications and preparing cost estimates and tender packages
+ Meet all safety requirements and act as AECOM Safety Representative

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field + 2 years of experience in civil engineering design and construction inspections; OR
+ Diploma/Certificate in civil engineering technology + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Working knowledge of contract documentation, including MMCD and NMS
+ Interest in certifying as MMCD Certified Contract Administration
+ Working knowledge of civil engineering concepts (pipes, ditches, culverts, headwalls, pumps, etc.)
+ Demonstrated ability to use AutoCAD and Civil 3D software for reviewing engineering drawings, site layouts, grading plans, and construction details.
+ Able to collaborate with design teams to ensure drawing accuracy and compliance with project standards.
+ Working knowledge of preparing preliminary and detailed cost estimates by extracting quantities from design models and drawings, and applying current unit rates to support project budgeting and tendering.

The technician reads and interprets technical documentation, executes field work with a high degree of accuracy, and ensures all systems operate safely and efficiently while adhering to industry standards and safety procedures.
**Responsibilities**
+ Read, interpret, and execute drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical documents related to refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
+ Install, repair, overhaul, and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems and their component parts in commercial, institutional, and high-rise settings.
+ Review blueprints, building codes, and specifications to determine work details, installation procedures, and compliance requirements.
+ Assemble and install complete refrigeration or air conditioning systems, including piping, controls, and associated components.
+ Assist with the design and layout of multi-head VRF systems, providing input based on field experience and best practices.
+ Create detailed material lists from drawings and site layouts to support accurate procurement and efficient project execution.

**Work Environment**
The role is based in existing commercial buildings and infrastructure, working around business tenants in occupied spaces, so technicians must be presentable and professional at all times. All work is commercial in nature, with no residential assignments. The typical shift starts at 7:00 or 7:30 AM and runs for an eight-hour day, with overtime as required to meet project and service demands. Because much of the work involves tenant improvements, there may be days where tasks that generate significant noise are scheduled outside regular business hours, often after 4:00 or 5:00 PM, to minimize disruption.
