**Key Accountabilities**
As a Medical Director, you will provide medical monitoring for assigned projects, function as medical representative on the project team, provide medical consultation as required or requested to client/sponsor or to other Parexel service groups, and assume the role of Senior Technical Lead in selected circumstances.
**In addition, you will also:**
+ Review all individual adverse experience reports for accuracy and clinical importance, and characterize their relationship to the study drug, severity and seriousness.
+ Provide reports to FDA or other regulatory agencies and the sponsor on a periodic and regular basis, summarizing adverse experiences as required by FDA or the sponsor, depending on the contract.
+ Review data listings of safety data, including adverse experiences, laboratory data, and vital signs data, to establish the presence or absence of abnormal trends, and if noted, follow up as appropriate with the project team, sponsor, investigator, and FDA.
+ Review documents written by various Parexel divisions for safety issues.
+ Review coding of adverse events and concomitant medications for accuracy and consistency.
+ Provide support for the preparation of clinical protocols, integrated clinical and statistical summary reports, journal articles, and other documents for clients/sponsors or in conjunction with clients/sponsors and in conjunction with other Parexel divisions.
+ Attend and present material, as requested, at meetings within Parexel as well as extra-company external meetings and conferences.
**Education, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:**
Successful applicants will:
+ be a MD Endocrinologist with FRCPC certification (or equivalent international credential)
+ have extensive clinical experience treating adult patients with Obesity, MASH/NASH, and Diabetes is highly preferred.
Past experience as a Physician in Industry or as a Clinical Trial Primary Investigator or Sub-Investigator is highly preferred; however, consideration will be given to exceptional candidates with an interest in transitioning to Industry. (Candidate experience will determine Associate Medical Director, Medical Director or a Senior Medical Director role).

This position will drive the creation and execution of country MA goals and ensure effective functional and cross-functional alignment through an engaged and collaborative approach to achieve the business objectives for the Astellas Canada, sitting as part of the Astellas affiliate leadership team.
This position provides leadership for the Medical Affairs Function regionally and globally through membership of the regional MA leadership team, contributing to the creation and execution of the MA Canada organizational goals.
**Essential Job Duties**
**Strategic Planning & Prioritization:**
+ As core member of Evidence Dissemination Value team contributes and leads on applicable portion of the integrated Evidence Dissemination Plan for applicable product following Agile principles for ways of working.
+ Collaborates and aligns on integrated Evidence Dissemination Plan with relevant internal stakeholders (e.g. MA Local Brand Team Leads of co-creation countries and Global MA Leads).
+ Engages with internal stakeholders to understand content and formats needs and feedback on existing content.
+ Actively keeps up with industry innovation and evolution of HCPs/ customer content and channel needs and preferences.
+ Oversees project progression and timelines in collaboration with internal Scientific Content Creators or external vendors (i.e. budget and vendor management).
**Scientific Content Ownership:**
+ Leads on scientific narrative, scientific messaging and storytelling and delivers on applicable frameworks like Scientific Communication Platform, Omnichannel Engagement Framework.
+ Leads on creation and delivery of global omnichannel customer journey templates, to be adapted and deployed locally.
+ Drives and owns creation and delivery of global clear, balanced, and evidence based innovative Field Medical Content to enable active scientific exchange for HCPs. This will include Field Medical content related to congress disclosures, manuscripts as well overarching Field Medical Storytelling content.
+ Drives and owns creation and delivery of MA Veeva Approved Emails and short form educational content (e.g. infographics, animations) which is used and deployed by Local Brand Teams per Global-4-Local model in omnichannel medical engagement.
+ Delivery of internal product and therapeutic area training content which will also be re-used by Local Brand Teams for HCP-to-HCP medical education.
+ Drives tailoring and re-use of scientific content to meet customer needs and channels.
**Scientific Content Governance:**
+ Accountable for review/ approval process in compliance with Astellas SOPs for content owned by this role.
+ Reviews and is responsible for ensuring applicable content is scientific accuracy, high quality, fair & balanced and non-promotional in intent and perception per Astellas processes and procedures, including use of appropriate disclaimers.
+ Oversee the addressing of comments/ feedback by reviewers as performed by Scientific Content Creators and resolve escalated complex or conflicting feedback.
**Outcome/ impact measurements:**
+ Ensure collection and assessment of evidence dissemination outcome/impact metrics and contribute to evidence dissemination value narrative for the applicable brand.
+ Assess applicable Content performance metrics and optimize content accordingly.
**Leadership:**
+ Mentor Medical Engagement Content Leads (I) in the applicable Chapter through preceptorship model and enable capability development.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, or PharmD)
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Medically qualified.
+ Fluent in English, spoken and written.
+ At least 10 years' experience in the Pharma industry in different MA roles, preferably including Affiliate Medical Affairs Head
+ Strong understanding and ability to comply with industry laws and regulations.
+ Strong expertise in the medical sciences, clinical development, medical program designing including experience in designing , executing and reporting of clinical trials
+ Experience in managing large Medical Affairs budgets with demonstrated ability to apply pro-active risk management on budget and timelines
+ Proven leadership capability in aligning medical strategies with corporate goals and providing critical business shaping insights.
+ Strong understanding of Market Access issues and HTA environment in Canada.
+ Experience in managing large multicultural teams. Championing matrix management.
+ Highly developed understanding of the external market place to identify long term benefit for unmet customer, payer and patient needs.
+ Outstanding interpersonal and networking skills

**Job Description**
The Senior Medical Manager / Associate Director focuses on developing and executing the medical affairs strategy in Canada and will be a well organized and results-oriented healthcare professional. This role requires very close collaboration with local and international colleagues from within Medical Affairs and the extended cross-functional team. The role is office-based and will report to the Director, Medical Affairs, Cell Therapy.
**The Role:**
+ Contribute to the development and execution of the Medical Affairs Plan of Action, in alignment with the broader cross-functional strategy.
+ Develops and Executes Medical Affairs activities and scientific projects based on the medical strategy and Plan of Action, in close collaboration with other global medical team members.

+ Develops and conducts medical education and communication activities in accordance with identified learning needs.
+ Develop effective working relationships as the medical expert with cross functional teams.
+ Provide strategic support for local Medical Affairs publication planning.
+ Provide medical leadership to plan and execute Medical Affairs Advisory Programs and provide support as needed to cross-functional HCP advisory boards.
+ Presents scientific and clinical data in a variety of different settings to support Kite products for the treatment of hematologic malignancies.
+ Lead the medical and scientific review of local promotional materials for Cell Therapy.
+ Works collaboratively and compliantly with colleagues in other functional areas, Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Marketing, Market Access, Sales, Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety, Public and Government Affairs.
**Requirements:**
+ Advanced health sciences degree (M.D., Pharm. D., PhD are preferred) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, preferably in Medical Affairs
+ Experience in Hematologic Malignancies is preferred
+ Proven track record of developing and/or executing a medical affairs plan of action
