That’s where you come in: As our new Accounting Manager, you’ll be responsible and make a difference in all aspects of Accounting. Using your considerable experience and financial knowledge, you’ll sustain our day-to-day operations while focusing on strategic planning, projects and business growth. While some of your time will be spent on monthly reporting, projections, and coordinating the activities of junior accountants; you are expected to gain in-depth knowledge of all systems, processes and procedures. Progressively, you are expected to start thinking of avenues for improvement and increased efficiency. As a leader, you’re will be collaborating closely with your team members, internal and external clients. You understand financial best practices in minute detail, and use that knowledge to make smart, strategic, and informed decisions. Practically speaking, you will: * Monitor AP and cash flow * Prepare and deliver monthly KPI reports to senior management * File HST returns/remittances or corporate taxes, payroll, EHT and WSIB * Oversee payroll and benefits administration * Oversee quarterly and yearly finance reporting * Prepare year end statements and liaise with external accountants * Work closely with project managers to improve project costs/profits * Variance analysis/analytics/commentary on financial results vs forecast * Prepare and monitor annual budget We’re looking for someone to join our team immediately, so if you want to move into a role that offers complexity, challenge, and impact, let us know today! Working with Terrapex: This is a full-time, permanent position, with core hours from 8:30am to 5:00pm, with flexibility within a 40 hour work week. You’ll make a great starting salary, between $80,000 and $90,000 per year, depending on your experience and qualifications. Your compensation package will also include vacation time, group RRSP matching plan, competitive benefits plan and bonus program. Job Summary
The Accounting Manager manages and supports the monthly close process. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring accurate General Ledger entries, analyzing variances, and reconciling accounts. This role is responsible for documentation and filing of key accounting processes, ensures compliance with accounting standards and company policies, and drives continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for high-visibility accounts, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliations and complex journal entries.
- Identify inefficiencies and help automate accounting processes to enhance accuracy and support our ability to scale.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders and the FP&A team to support accurate forecasting, reporting, and budget analysis.
- Maintain and improve our internal control environment to ensure compliance and safeguard company assets.
- Serve as a primary contact for audit support, assist with technical accounting research, and lead ad-hoc financial projects.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure clarity and consistency.
Must Haves
- University degree or College diploma in Finance or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Advanced-level skills in data manipulation, complex formulas (e.g., VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS), pivot tables, and data visualization.
- Advanced proficiency with NetSuite (or similar Tier 1 ERP system) and Planful (or similar EPM/FP&A system). Expert-level Excel skills.
- Must possess the CPA or CA (Chartered Accountant) designation
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment is highly desirable.
