JOB SUMMARY  

PetSmart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility of store cleanliness and maintenance, and pet safety standards as well as the direct care of pets within our store. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES  

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following and may vary depending on store characteristics and needs: 

  • Responsible for the pet parent experience and outcomes conducted in person, over the phone, at the sales register and online.  
  • Greets pet parents and answers their questions throughout the store.  
  • Prepares online orders for pick-up in store and ensures a smooth, positive, pick-up experience.  
  • Responsible for the pet healthcare of store owned pets, which includes feeding, watering and cleaning all pet habitats (bird, reptile, small animal, cricket, and fish aquariums).   
  • Maintains total store cleanliness standards. 
  • Supports the store with weekly price changes and monthly promotional pricing. 
  • Stages and sorts new product to match sales floor planners. 
  • Faces, fills, and recovers products to meet sales floor standards. 
  • Recommends, informs, and sells merchandise, services and live pets. 
  • Administers store owned pet medications as directed by veterinarian 
  • Promotes special events such as adoption weekends, Treats enrollment, charity events, etc.   
  • Ensures a safe environment for our associates, pets, and pet parents. 
  • Responsible for taking immediate action when a sick/injured pet is identified in the store; transport to the vet as needed. 
  • Assists and works in various areas throughout the store (including services) as required. Other duties may be assigned. 
  • Participates in our culture of Belonging and Recognition.   
  • Follows all Company Policies and Procedures. 

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed 
  • Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.  

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT  

  • Associate required to stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc. The associate frequently is required to reach with hands and arms: stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 
  • Associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception.

Reporting to the Food Service Director, the Retail Chef Manager oversees the day-to-day operation for Aramark food retail operations on campus at Queen?s University in Kingston, ON. This involves planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the operations. The Retail Chef Manager is responsible for providing leadership to a team of 15-30 food service associates.

Duties will also include food purchasing, costing, inventory control and menu development.  The candidate must also have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and have an excellent track record of leadership and motivation. They must also maintain a high level of quality and consistency on a regular basis and have a minimum of 3-5 years? experience in a similar position in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Job Responsibilities

?    Responsible for making sure the daily operation of the components are running smoothly with the understanding that there will be times when you will have to ?jump in? and work within the components
?    Implements and leads compliance on all Aramark operating standards, Franchise standards, and legislated standards within the components including company policy and procedure, Health and Safety Standards and Safe Food Handling
?    Develops operational components forecasts each period and can explain variances in sales, costs and operational activities
?    Responsible for overseeing staff scheduling, tracks daily labour on schedule and reports to Director of Retail Operations on a daily basis
?    Responsible for inventory controls, food, labour and direct costs
?     Assist on a weekly basis with inventory
?    Ensure quality, courteous service is provided to all customers
?    Works with the team to manage all hiring, staffing, labour, progressive discipline, accommodation, training and administration of HR policies
?    Assist in disciplinary action alongside the Food Service Director and Human Resources
?    Develops and motivates Supervisory staff to attain proper standards of performance
?    Monitor equipment repair and maintenance
?    Collects, records, and deposits all revenues received at the component
?    Maintains compliance of all cash handling and cash auditing procedures, reports any overage/shortages
?    Ensure adherence to Aramark?s policies and procedures
?    Ensure adherence to Aramark?s Health and Safety Programs

Qualifications

  • At least 3-5 years of similar experience in a fast-paced food service environment.
  • Knowledge of computerized spreadsheet and word processing programs.
  • Self-directed with strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Positive attitude and genuine customer focus orientation
  • Able to be flexible, evening and weekend shifts when required.

Overview:

RETAIL MERCHANDISER

Come join SPAR Canada as a Retail Merchandiser, independent contractor! We offer a flexible schedule based on your availability! As a Retail Merchandiser with SPAR Canada, you’ll be responsible for maintaining store displays, plan-o-grams, stocking levels, audits, data collection, and will vary depending on the location that you service. Get paid for doing something you love!

We provide:

  • Flexible work schedule
    • 5+ hours/week
  • Pay $16.50/hour
  • Opportunity to work on interesting & varied retail projects at Canada’s top retailers
  • Continuous and short-term merchandising projects based on your schedule

Responsibilities:

  • Merchandising duties including maintaining store displays, plan-o-grams, stock levels, audits, data collection
  • Developing & maintaining strong relationships at store level

Requirements:

  • Independent Contactor
