Job Summary:

Assists the Early Childhood Educators (RECE) in providing a nurturing, developmentally appropriate, healthy, and safe environment to meet the needs of children in ages 18 months to 4 years in the child care setting.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

Direct Client Service

  • Meets children’s needs for continuance of care, routines and education in the absence of a regular caregiver;
  • Supports practices and goals for children that are consistent with How Does Learning
  • Happen – Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years
  • Supports children, parent and caregivers with a sense of belonging, well-being, engagement and expression through daily routines
  • Work with children with special needs and provide adaptations when appropriate
  • Sensitive to the needs and preferences of families
  • Implements program plans on a daily basis as established or modified; helps set up areas for planned activities
  • Provides a welcoming and nurturing environment
  • Promote children’s mental health by supporting them to form close and secure relationships with adults and peers and encourage them to experience, manage and express a full range of emotions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Administration

  • Performs administrative functions as required by the program
  • Responsible for room clean up
  • Reviewing professional journals, ECE publications, websites and books
  • Participating in ECE staff professional development opportunities, reflective practice sessions and collaboration sessions within our ECE larger community
  • Assists in maintaining a healthy and safe environment, documents/reports accidents and serious occurrences to supervisors, observes and reports on illness and health conditions, monitors locations for health and safety hazards, conducts site inspections

Human Resources

  • Provides support and assistance to volunteers and/or placement
  • On an annual basis review Centre’s operational guidelines, policies and procedures and other legislation required as it relates to the delivery of services and provide recommendations for the policy reviews

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Attends and participates at team and general staff meetings as scheduled
  • Follows established policies of off-site organizations where staff are co-located.
  • Participating actively as a team member at staff meetings, collaborative reflection sessions, and in generating and exchanging ideas, in goal setting and in sharing the responsibility for all the children enrolled
  • Assuming responsibility for a share of the team tasks (weekly sanitizing, room set up, end of day clean up)
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others to co-construct understandings and teaching strategies;
  • Commitment to building genuine partnerships with others that enable open and constructive conversations about curriculum;

Qualifications

Education

  • Early Child Education diploma or degree from a recognized college or university or other equivalent educational qualifications is preferred

Professional Experience

  • Previous experience working in a childcare setting
  • Experience in program planning and delivery in accordance to How Does Learning
  • Excellent knowledge of child development, emergent curriculum and Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years; How Does Learning Happen
  • Experience working with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds in a community-based setting
  • Experience and sensitivity working with all families including those in an urban core setting, culturally diverse, LGBTQ, young parents, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated stress resilience and mental health stamina in the delivery of client
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including diplomacy, confidentiality and good judgment as well as the ability to tailor your message to your audience from children 0 through to 6.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong motivation and ability to take initiative

Confirm child head count at every drop off and pick up.

Ensuring all children are in age appropriate child safety restraints at all times before driving.

Always maintain constant supervision of the children on the bus.

Follows safe bus loading and unloading procedures.

Conduct daily walk through on the bus after every drop off.

Know and abide by all policies and procedures, including evacuation and accident procedures.

Daily housekeeping duties as required to keep the bus clean which includes sweeping/vacuuming floor and seats, cleaning/sanitizing high touch areas.


Qualifications

Computer knowlwdge and an ability to be trained on using corporate 3rd party software

Class 4 Drivers License with a clear drivers abstract to drive up to 21 passenger buses (required on employment).

Ability to perform employment test such as Road test, Ride along and any other special training when required.

Criminal Check & Vulnerable Sector Search.

CPR/ First Aid certification (Preferred)

Early Childcare Educator Certification of any level preferred

1st Class Front Desk Adminstrative Staff are responsible for checking children into/out of the program in accordance with Albertas Child Care Licensing Regulations and 1st Class Childcares policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Greeting children and families when they enter the facility.

  • Check children into the appropriate program and ensure they notify the primary staff member of that childs arrival.

  • Welcome new families, answer questions about the program and provide information about the registration process.

  • Occasional tours of the facility in absence of the director.

  • Check children out of the program according to 1st Class Childcare policies and procedures.

Salary: $26-30/hr

Childcare Centre Bookkeeper

All About Kids is a Licensed Child care Provider, with locations across the GTA. Our learning environments are set up to encourage children to explore and have fun while staff act as observers and co-learners during childrens play.

We are now looking for someone to join our Central Management team in an administrative capacity.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A relevant combination of education and practical experience in Early Childhood Education and Business Accounting & Administration
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • 3+ years of Bookkeeping & Accounting work experience
  • 2+ years of experience with QuickBooks Online
  • Comprehensive knowledge of provincial and federal childcare funding is an asset but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication required
  • Highly competent with technology
  • Reliable transportation
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping

Duties:

  • Assist in preparing bi-weekly payroll
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for the company
  • Attend all Ministry meetings relevant to CWELCC, Provincial and Municipal funding
  • Conduct on-site centre visits to understand equipment needs of each centre
  • Prepare funding applications and reconciliations and present them to Sr Management
  • Account management and expense reporting
  • Oversee accounts payable/receivable including purchase orders, invoicing clients, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes to support financial planning
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks and Quickbooks Online to record transactions and generate reports

Job Type: Part-time, approximately 25-30 hours per week

Compensation: $26-30/hr

Job Location: This is an on-site position. Our main office is located in Markham but travel to other locations and off-site meetings is required.
