Reporting to the Director, Engineering Design, the
Electrical Engineering Designer
will be responsible for the design of transformers/reactors of simple to high complexity, with technical guidance. The designer will be responsible for direct interaction with customer to provide high level of customer support. They will be responsible for all designs/projects executed in terms of quality of output and support to other departments and timeliness of each activity.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Design transformers/reactors of 'Medium' complexity. Using existing rules to provide guidelines for the design. The designer is responsible to make technical decisions to complete the design.
  • Review and understand application requirements and discuss with customers for clarification or suggestions.
  • Prepare quotes with technical particulars and factory cost.
  • Prepare optimized design and MIP for orders. The cost must be in line with the quoted factory cost.
  • Coordinate and provide support to drafting for overall optimization of design.
  • Provide support to manufacturing, as required and approve test reports.
  • Provide support for customers/field issues/ QA, as required.
  • Follow the requirements specified for COD projects.
  • Work with customers to develop an overall cost-effective solutions for the customers application.
  • Work with HPS team to accomplish the requirements of the project cost effectively and on time.

Do you qualify? We are seeking:

**Your Impact**
+ Design and implement software-in-the-loop tests using our simulation platform to evaluate mission planning, perception algorithms, and overall system integration for autonomous agricultural machinery.
+ Perform regression testing on perception simulations (e.g., sensor data processing, object detection, and environmental modeling) and mission simulations (e.g., path planning, obstacle detection, and task execution in farm environments).
+ Analyze test results to identify defects, performance bottlenecks, or unexpected behaviors, and collaborate with development teams to recommend fixes or improvements. **Your Experience and qualifications**

+ Skilled in simulation tools (Gazebo, Isaac Sim), programming (Python/C++), Linux, ROS, embedded systems, and communication protocols like CAN and Ethernet.

**Location**
This position is based out of our Calgary, AB office.
**Responsibilities**
+ Checking manufacturer's wiring drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, data sheets and similar drawings
+ Researching and analyzing requirements from various engineering standards, contracts and proposal documents
+ Preparing basic engineering calculations and drawings following Kiewit Power Engineers standards
+ Providing draft equipment specifications for major electrical equipment
+ Performing bid evaluations
+ Coordinating electrical equipment contracts directly with equipment vendors
+ Maintaining engineering records and lists as required
+ Developing and managing cable and termination information utilizing plant design software
+ Coordinating work with other engineers, designers, project managers, construction personnel and vendors
+ Developing familiarity with departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit Power Engineers policies

**Education and/or Experience**

**Computer Skills**
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. The individual will develop familiarity with and learn to use the electrical department design software tools.

Stantec Consulting Ltd. is seeking a skilled Electrical ITS AutoCAD Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of drafting experience in consulting engineering. The ideal candidate will possess an Electrical Technologist diploma and demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation software. We are a multidiscipline team working across the three northern Territories (Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut) in multiple sectors for a variety of clients. Our projects vary in size ranging from small commercial developments to light industrial, mining, government, community, institutional and private sector facilities. An exciting opportunity exists for an energetic, experienced technical leader to lead the Northern electrical engineering team. We have three Northern offices in Whitehorse, Yellowknife & Iqaluit. The three offices work together and share resources. The Electrical Engineering Team Lead position can be based in either Whitehorse, Yukon or Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The successful candidate will lead our electrical group and will work closely with Business Centre (BC) leadership to deliver quality technical assignments and attract, develop, and retain qualified staff that demonstrate design and technical excellence. Reporting to the Business Centre Operations Leader, you will collaborate with the Northern Territories leadership team to market discipline specific design and technical expertise to clients.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the electrical engineering team in the Northern Territories.
- Collaborate with other engineering and business leaders across the region.
- Oversee and enhance the quality of projects, documentation, and processes in the discipline.
- Attract, develop, and retain qualified professionals to contribute to the discipline.
- Interact with counterparts across the business lines.
- Partner with other leaders to review and manage workload, staffing, recruiting, career development and technical development.
- Promote and enhance design excellence, professional standards and best practices within the region.
- Participate in the Business Centre' team building process for pursuits & projects, providing PMs with appropriate staff, either from within the BC or from other BCs.
- Together with other leaders, implement the methodologies within the region for the creation and review of work plans, independent reviews, design reviews and technical reviews on all projects using Stantec frameworks.
- Take timely corrective action on any projects that encounter technical challenges to avoid claims and takes responsibility for mitigating any claims in the region.
- Lead risk mitigation efforts across full portfolio of projects.
- Collaborate with Stantec's HSSE team in the development of discipline specific hazard assessments, safe work practices, planned job observations, safety training, and incident investigations within the discipline pertaining to the work of the staff.
- Assist leaders in the delivery of the Business Centre's employee compensation, career development, performance reviews and succession planning.
- Increase the visibility of the Electrical Engineering team across the company.
- Work with other local disciplines, including architecture, transportation, power and energy, and civil engineering to deliver high quality design projects.
- Collaborate with buildings architects, planners, mobility planners, and landscape architects to develop and advance thought leadership both in Canada and as part of the larger team.
- Lead the electrical aspects of the project development cycle including client engagement, preparing fee proposals, and project delivery.
- Engage regularly with key clients to discuss current projects and evaluate firm performance, as well as identify other business opportunities either with current clients or through referrals, focusing on business development efforts and strategic pursuits.
