The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technical leader to shape the future of our groundbreaking ophthalmic technology. As the Electronics Design Team Lead, youll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering complex, safety-critical electronics for our next-generation medical devices. Responsibilities:
- Guide the electronics strategy for new product development, working with high diversified and multidisciplinary team through the use of concise, but effective, documentation of architecture and functional flow
- Own FPGA architecture and digital design, from specification through verification
- Drive frontend analog and mixedsignal design, focusing on lownoise, highspeed, safetycritical circuitry
- Champion failsafe electronics methodologies, leading FMEA activities and adhering to applicable ISO/IEC standards (e.g., ISO13485, IEC60601)
- Mentor and coach junior and midlevel engineers, fostering their technical growth and ensuring best practices in documentation, design reviews, and version control
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (mechanical, optics, software, clinical) to integrate electronics into a cohesive system architecture
- Support embedded firmware efforts, particularly C/C++ development for microcontrollers, and common communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI)
- Ensure design documentation is complete and compliant with regulatory and internal requirements: schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, test plans, and assembly instructions
- Support risk management activities and take accountability for ensuring safetycritical electronics meet CSA, ISO, and ANSI regulatory guidelines for medical devices
- Drive continuous improvement of processes, tools, and team workflows to accelerate development while maintaining quality and traceability
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters in Electrical, Biomedical, or related Engineeringfield
- 5+ years in electronics design for medical devices or other highreliability sectors
- Proven track record leading electronics teams and delivering complex systems on time
- Strong background in frontend analog/mixedsignal design for lownoise, highSNR applications
- Expertise in FPGA architecture
- Embedded firmware development in C/C++, including RTOS integration
- Familiarity with UART, I2C, SPI, and associated interfaces
- Handson experience with oscilloscopes, signal generators, and power supplies
- Knowledge of safetycritical design, FMEA, and risk management (ISO14971 or similar)
- Working understanding of relevant medical device standards
- Ability to mentor, motivate, and manage engineers at varying experience levels

Joining our team means actively participating in the application of sensors and instrumentation on Aero engine components and ensuring the reliability of the instrumentation. You will be involved in supporting the assembly of instrumented engines, preparing and monitoring tests, as well as resolving issues related to sensors and measurements. In collaboration with the engineers, you will contribute to the analysis of results and the formulation of essential technical recommendations for the development and validation of engines. This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday with flexible hours, based in **Mississauga** and may involve travel.
**What will your day-to-day look like?**
+ Participate and review Request for test and test instructions.
+ Set up the instrumentation (accelerometers, pressure sensors, displacement sensors, telemetry transmitters).
+ Carry out these installations with little or no supervision.
+ Validate the modifications of the components necessary for the instrumentation.
+ Define and ensure the routing of instrumentation outside the engine.
+ Support the assembly of instrumented engines.
+ Actively participate in the bench tests of instrumented engines.
+ Collaborate with the team to ensure the reliability and quality of the measurements.
**What do you need to be successful?**
+ Hold a college degree or post-secondary education, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a field related to instrumentation.
+ Master the principles of measuring mechanical stress, pressure, vibration, displacement, temperature and good understanding of RF circuitry.
+ Possess a strong analytical ability and demonstrate a good understanding of complex subjects.
+ Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team while being autonomous.
+ Have a good understanding of electronics and computerized systems.
+ Understand and use data acquisition systems with rigor and precision.
+ Be comfortable with office tools to document, analyze, and present the results.
+ Demonstrate meticulousness and rigor in the execution of tasks related to instrumentation.
+ Know how to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding testing environment.
Although this position is part of a English-speaking work environment, it may require a working knowledge of French to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and sometimes communicate in French with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.
