+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
+ Basic understanding of electronics at the circuit board level.
+ Familiarity with distribution equipment, electrical systems and protective devices is an asset.

In this role you will be responsible for analyzing system failures and diagnosing hardware issues efficiently, and leveraging data to continuously improve our products.We are seeking a resourceful individual who can contribute to making our products even better.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Analyze field returns to determine the cause of failure
  • Document all failures in our QC application, Jira
  • Disassemble returned units to allow re-use of good components
  • Carefully track and transfer parts in our inventory system, Odoo
  • Develop and build test fixtures to support production
  • Develop and perform tests on prototypes to verify functionality and durability
  • Create and deploy test fixtures to support R&D systems

Qualifications:


  • Electronics Technologist Diploma or Electronics Engineering Degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in electronics troubleshooting.
  • Capable of hand soldering small SMD components (0402 or smaller)
  • Hands-on experience with multimeters and power supplies
  • Ability to use hand tools to fabricate test fixtures
  • Experience in using oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers
  • Able to interpret schematics to determine and circuits operation
  • Experienced in troubleshooting complex analog and digital circuits
  • Familiar with electronic circuit board manufacturing and assembly
  • Comfortable with command-line tools

Electronics Technician

In this job you will be responsible for assembling, troubleshooting, and testing electronic assemblies.

As an Electronics Technician you will:

  • Assemble junction boxes, electronic controls, and other assemblies per mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Install and test completed electronic assemblies
  • Act as an inspector for final electronics checkout
  • Interact with manufacturing to ensure proper installation and test of completed electronic assemblies

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has demonstrated working knowledge of wiring diagrams, interconnect drawings/ladder logic, schematics and bill of materials

  • Hardware troubleshooting experience including test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, ESD generators, etc)

The opportunity

dcbel is looking for an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to develop, implement and continually improve our designs.

The successful candidate will interface with hardware, mechanical, and firmware engineering teams to solve problems, validate and improve existing circuits and help with the development of new products.

Main responsibilities

  • Design and develop analog, power and digital electronics from schematics to PCB.
  • Collaborate with power, mechanical, firmware, test, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Own end to end circuit board electronics, from specification through to design, prototype, validation, and release to manufacturing.
  • Documentation of the different stages of the design.


Key requirements

  • A Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent
  • 6+ years of demonstrable experience in electronics design
  • Experience with analog, digital and mixed-signal electronic designs
  • Experience with PCB layout and EMC optimization
  • Experience with medium to high volume DFT and DFM
  • Experience with Altium Designer
  • Proficiency with EE tools, including scopes, network analyzers, etc.
  • Experience with one or more networking protocols, e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, CAN BUS is an asset.
  • Experience with EV charging, Solar Energy and Battery systems is an asset.

THE POSITION

The Embedded Systems Design Engineer is part of a core team that will be assisting in solidifying and expanding our capabilities in the electrification and illumination space. Our team is responsible for the development and launch of a wide variety of products, ranging from an Electric Vehicle Communication Controller to various illuminated signage and lithium battery charging systems. Work in a space where the sky is the limit for you to flex your designing capabilities, where you will be challenged to think outside the box. You will be supporting the current customer platform and developing complementary products to the EVCC. SMG seeks experienced out-of-the-box designers for ARM based systems running bare metal, FreeRTOS, and embedded Linux.

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING AN IMPACT

  • Develop system-level requirements based on customer needs and industry best practices.
  • Design schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Prepare technical drawings for components and assemblies.
  • Design test fixtures and define production test processes.
  • Develop and execute design verification and validation (DV/V) plans.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to support product procurement and resolve engineering issues.
  • Work with the engineering team to design products and manage production, ensuring timely, on-budget, and satisfactory project completion.
  • Participate in vendor qualification activities.
  • Support project hand-off to the manufacturing team.
  • Engage in new product development aligned with company strategy.
  • Conduct market research as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of system-level architecture.
  • Assist in developing project plans and customer quotations by estimating engineering effort, schedules, and project budgets.

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU REQUIRE

  • Hold a BSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of ARM-based systems running FreeRTOS and embedded Linux.
  • Design systems using ARM Cortex-M and Cortex-R series microcontrollers.
  • Design systems with ARM Cortex-A microprocessors, including DDR2 and DDR3 memory.
  • Apply experience with LED lighting circuitry and battery charging systems.
  • Understand system and environmental requirements for vehicle applications.
  • Apply knowledge of CAN Bus communication protocols.
  • Define and execute component- and system-level test plans.
  • Debug electronics, perform board bring-up, and conduct low-level troubleshooting.
  • Design electronic devices/systems for transportation, agriculture, and/or construction vehicles (asset).
  • Understand and apply FMEA principles and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines.
  • Use design and verification testing methods.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Apply project management, leadership, and presentation skills (asset).
  • Work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Maintain a high level of organization, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
