Your role:

  • Assist customers with their information/product requirements in the store or over the telephone

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers and senior technologists to complete the design and drafting of civil and water resource infrastructure. Projects may involve earthworks, dams, canals, pipelines, site grading, and drainage systems.
  • Complete field surveys utilizing RTK GPS equipment. Duties may include topographic survey, bathymetric survey, ROV survey, construction layout surveys, and quantity surveys.
  • Complete site inspection and resident engineering duties throughout construction phase of projects. Duties may include residenting, inspections, daily reporting, quantity takeoffs, and ensuring work is in accordance with Drawings and Specifications.
  • Work closely with engineers, technologists and project managers to ensure the successful delivery of civil/water resource projects from conceptual design to construction.

What Makes You Unique

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other drafting software.

Your Role:

  • Drill core management – checking run markers, labelling, and racking core boxes.
  • Core orientation – docking oriented core, marking orientation, and cut lines, recording QA/QC information on a strip log.
  • Complete meter marks, RQD, magnetic susceptibility, box ends, specific gravity, box tags, photographs, and data entry.
  • Inform the geology and engineering team of any problems with the drill core or with the core processing procedures.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of rock, mineral or metal samples and perform physical and chemical laboratory tests.
  • Assisting with the management of technical field and laboratory staff.
  • Management of small to medium quality control and quality assurance projects.
  • Able to provide quality control and quality assurance on a variety of laboratory and field-testing projects.
  • Performing field testing and laboratory testing of soil, aggregate and asphalt concrete including sieve analysis, density testing using nuclear density gauges, preparation of Proctors and Marshall molds, asphalt cement content, sand equivalents, Atterberg limits and moisture content.
  • Preparing of field and testing reports.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Geology, Civil Engineering or Construction Services Diploma from recognized Technical School.
  • Demonstrated practical hands-on design, construction administration and project management expertise (i.e. related office and field experience) are assets but not required.
  • Prior Borehole logging experience for both soils and rock would be considered an asset but is not required.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, ArcGIS, AutoCAD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, listening and time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
As a Civil Drafter, you will play a key role in producing detailed and accurate drawings that support the design, approval, and production of high-quality precast concrete products. Working closely with engineering, sales, and production teams, you will transform sketches and concepts into clear, industry-compliant technical documentation using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Allplan. - Conduct hazard identification for a wide range of facilities/processes and for various jurisdictions, with a primary focus in western North America.
- Complete hazard and risk assessments, including hazardous source characterization, consequence modelling, reporting, and mitigation recommendations. Consequence modelling includes dispersion, fire jet/fireball/pool fire, vapour cloud explosion and vessel ruptures.
- Assist other team members in the preparation of reports, proposals, marketing materials, and/or technical papers.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in mechanical or chemical engineering.

Qualifications to apply:

Your Opportunity
The role of a Junior Civil Designer is to work as a team member on roadways, bridge and culvert/hydraulic projects under the guidance of an Engineer. The Junior Civil Designer will utilize their knowledge and experience to contribute to a variety of projects ranging from conceptual design through to construction services.
A Junior Civil Designer will perform a variety of tasks which may include assisting with the development of conceptual and detailed engineered plans, and construction administration/support of structures and facilities such as bridges, railroads, roads, airports, other projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Develops grading and drainage design models using Civil 3D to assist in development of 2D plan and profiles, cross-sections and earthwork volumes;
- Prepares preliminary and detail design engineering drawings for site grading, drainage, earthworks, underground conveyance systems, roads, ponds, containment, excavations etc.;
- Performs civil quantities take-off / MTOs using Civil 3D program and spreadsheets;
- Performs vehicle turn or swept path analysis using AutoTURN software;
- Performs model checks and drawing design checks for others work as part of QA/QC procedure;
- Provides inputs to job-hour estimate, schedule and change orders;
- Attend model review, team meetings and client meetings, as required;
- Adheres to CAD standards and follows quality guidelines.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Proficiency using AutoCAD and Civil 3D Software. Experience with InRoads and other CAD software is an asset.
- Ability to work with Navisworks, BlueBeam, BIM 360/Projectwise is an asset.
- Understanding of civil engineering design concepts for grading, drainage, earthworks and roads.
- Solid understanding of coordinate systems.
- Excellent understanding of requirements and application of client CAD standards.
- Able to manage multiple projects.
- Strong communication, coordination, time management and organizational skills.
- Detail oriented and ability to remain focused.
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
Education and Experience
- Civil engineering technician / technology diploma from a recognized community college or the ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge received from previous experience in a similar position.
- 0 to 5 years of experience in engineering consulting or the construction industry.
Position will be a combination of office and field work. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
