**AECOM** is looking for an **Intermediate Engineer, Scientist or Geologist** for its **Halifax, NS** location. This is a full-time role.
**Job Summary:**
The role will be a combination of technical work delivery and field work, though the work can/may vary based on the applicant's experience and career aspirations.
This position is ideally suited to an Intermediate engineer, scientist or geologist with technical strengths applied to environmental consulting.
This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a range of projects, and a positive attitude. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team.
The successful candidate will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System.
**Major Responsibilities:**
The job responsibilities for the position will include, but will not be limited to:
+ Preparation, coordination and participation in field programs to collect and analyze environmental data (both office and field duties).
+ Preparation of project deliverables: workplans, technical letters, memorandums, reports, maps, drawings, and detailed design packages.
+ Development of technical approaches in conjunction with senior staff on site assessment, remedial options analysis and remediation projects.

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (Science, Geotechnical, Geology, Environmental Engineering, etc.) + four (4) years of related experience within this field.
+ Project experience with contaminated sites in Nova Scotia.
+ Experience with field work conducting sampling of media (groundwater, surface water, soil, sediment, etc.).
+ Understanding of the Nova Scotia Contaminated Sites Guidelines and associated regulation and protocols.
+ Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Registered, or have the ability to register, with Engineers Nova Scotia as a P.Eng. or Association of Professional Geoscientists of Nova Scotia as a P.Geo.
+ Experience with mining related projects, including historical mine sites.
+ Technical report writing.
+ Willingness to travel to job sites (sometimes remote) on occasion.
+ Field work experience.
+ Working in a team setting to meet timelines and quality management.
+ Proficient with MS Office Suite; excellent knowledge of Excel and Word.

Position Title / Rank: Assistant Professor in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering (with focus on waterborne pathogen fate and transport in terrestrial water systems)
Department: School of Engineering Position Description:
The School of Engineering at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track position, in the area of Environmental or Water Resources Engineering, at the Assistant Professor level. The anticipated start date of this appointment is July 1, 2025, or another mutually agreed-upon date in the year 2025.
The candidate will specialize in: the sources, transport and fate of pathogens and/or antimicrobial resistance (AMR) into and through stormwater, surface water and groundwater systems; use of tracers to characterize pathogen/AMR processes in the vadose zone and groundwater; monitoring technologies to understand pathogen/AMR transport and fate in surface water and groundwater; and/or mitigation strategies to reduce impacts to public health caused by pathogens in surface water and groundwater.
The candidate must hold an undergraduate degree in engineering and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrogeology, Environmental Sciences, or related field. The successful candidate will supervise graduate students and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Engineering. The candidate must have expertise in areas such as: field-based methods for investigating pathogen/AMR transport through the vadose zone into the groundwater complemented contaminated by solutes and nutrients; temporal and spatial variability of pathogens/AMRs through unsaturated and saturated zones; microbial risk assessment; and/or climate change impacts on waterborne disease transmission through connected groundwater systems from recharge through soils and vadose discharge to well and surface water.
Priority will be given to applicants who are registered as Professional Engineers in Canada or eligible for registration as Professional Engineers (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario at the time of hiring. This position forms part of a cluster hire around the CERC for Waterborne Pathogens. The candidate will work closely with others on campus (CERC, MG360, as well as other colleagues in the Engineering programs) to develop a research program on the surveillance and control of waterborne pathogens and AMR above and below ground surface. The candidate will have demonstrated potential to: collectively establish an internationally-recognised research program; align with the strategic direction of the university ( ) and align with the CERC on Waterborne Pathogens ( attract, develop and retain excellent trainees/students/researchers; lead a team which commits to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) practices; teach undergraduate and graduate courses in water and environmental sciences; and, provide service to the School of Engineering, UoG and the wider community.

**What are your contributions to the team?**
+ Monitor and review declarable chemical substances list under environmental regulations in Canada, U.S., E.U., Asia and other countries that impact the use of chemicals in Bombardier Aviation products.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $62,200 - $85,500 annually (Only Applicable to British Columbia). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
