Solutions Design Engineer II are responsible to support the growth of our Supply Chain Solutions & Dedicated Transportation Solution offerings by developing, designing and winning new business through:

  • Designing solutions that deliver financial value to our Customers

  • Providing feasible designs that are aligned with our Customer's needs

Solutions Design Engineer II will support a pursuit from start to finish and will be an active team member throughout the various stages of the pursuit all the way through successful transition during startup. Key activities include:

Essential Functions

  • Calculating labor, equipment, facility and expense requirements based on transportation and warehousing design assumptions. Skills and Abilities

About The Role
The Design Assurance Quality Engineer (DQA) will work alongside the R&D team to iterate on existing commercial products and perform new product development activities. The DQA Engineer will provide input into the software development processes and ensure product development lifecycle compliance. Role Requirements:

· Well experienced with:

  • Water resources management

  • Urban land development

  • Hydrology studies

· Knowledge of Civil engineering design including site preparation, drainage system, access road design and retaining walls.

· Proficient in applicable software such as Civil 3D as well as experience with AutoCAD.

· Strong understanding of safety in design principles.

· Strong and confident communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to write clear and concise documents and be able to clearly explain technical information and concepts to internal and external parties.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

· Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

· Minimum 5 years of relevant water resources engineering experience.

Must be a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC and APEGA, or must be eligible for registration with both organizations

Preferred Experience:

· Previous experience working on Industrial Civil projects is preferred.

· Previous experience working in an EPC environment is an advantage.

The salary range for this role is $105,000 to $115,000. Salary variations depend on factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and current market conditions specific to the role. A hybrid work schedule is available.

What You'll Be Doing
The Mechanical Engineer Co-op/Intern will support the mechanical engineering team on a variety of ongoing projects. This role offers hands-on experience in design, analysis, thermal and vibration testing, as well as prototyping. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of the industry, gaining exposure to opto-mechanical design and its applications in data centers. This is a unique chance to contribute to cutting-edge advancements in telecommunications technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and modify 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies using CAD software.
  • Support the development and validation of thermal management solutions for telecom systems.
  • Development and testing of prototypes for durability and compliance with industry standards.
  • Dynamic analysis and testing of systems exposed to shock and vibration based on industry standards.
  • Create and revise engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, reports, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and project managers.

Education
What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Completion of at least 2nd or 3rd year of study preferred.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and basic engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with CAD tools.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
  • Excellent communication, technical report writing and organizational skills.

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who can look ahead during the product development phase of a product and think about how manufacturing will be able to build the product in production. The company prefers engineers who think in terms of simplicity, reliability and repeatability when it comes to developing manufacturing processes while taking into consideration the skill level that will be available to build the product.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining drawings packages and properly categorizing design materials and models for all currently produced products including revision progression.

  • Running FAE stress and fatigue analysis on current and planned designs using AutoCad Inventor

  • Working with development team to create new product designs using AutoCad Inventor.

  • In field testing of products currently in development and using results to continuously improve product designs. Travel may be required as needed including internationally.

  • Design and development of rubber injection molding tooling based on part designs and machine parameters.

  • Design and development of jigs, fixtures and robotic tooling attachments for uses in manufacturing based on direction from the manufacturing manager.

  • Working with the machining manager to support manufacturing of injection mold tooling designs during fabrication.

The successful candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Completed post secondary Degree for Mechanical Engineering.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a related field.

  • Experience working with AutoCAD Inventor and running FAE Analysis.

  • Experience creating drawings packages and maintaining revisions.

  • Experience in designing tooling for injection of rubber or plastics would be a plus.

  • Experience designing parts that will be made using 3 and 4 axis vertical machining

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and designing jigs and fixtures used to fabricate steel and other materials.

  • Knowledge of various steel options and physical properties in the 40,000 ksi – 100,000 ksi range

  • Knowledge of Construction and Agriculture equipment applications and uses is a plus.

  • Ability to work in a small team environment.

  • Highly motivated and able to achieve goals and tasks determined by management.

  • P.Eng is not a requirement, but it is a plus.
