Manages all engineering/maintenance operations, including maintaining the building, grounds and physical plant with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection. Assists in leading the emergency response team for all facility issues. Helps to increase guest and employee satisfaction through effective communications and training.
**CANDIDATE PROFILE**
**Education and Experience**
- High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.

**CORE WORK ACTIVITIES**
**Managing Engineering Operations and Budgets**
- Manages the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment and electrical systems.
- Ensures regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards.
- Manages and controls heat, light and power and recommends current best methods for energy conservation and economical facility operations.
- Develops specifications and requirements for service contracts and administers such contracts to support building needs.
- Distributes preventive maintenance and repair work orders and monitors timeliness and quality of completion.
- Oversees and directs the maintenance of grounds, guestrooms, public space, restaurants, property vehicles and recreational facilities.
- Develops a long term plan for preventative maintenance and asset protection and overseeing execution of plan.
- Develops project plans in accordance with renovation or new construction needs.
- Contacts contractors for bids and supervising construction to ensure timely completion of projects within budgetary guidelines.
- Builds positive relationships with external customers such as city building/zoning department, fire prevention bureau and vendors.
- Ensures fire crew has complete understanding of all procedures, equipment and alarms.
- Performs monthly property inspection to ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in excellent condition.
- Conducts guest room and common area inspection to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of facilities in order to determine the type of work required.
- Recommends or arranges for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
- Selects and orders or purchasing new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
- Manages parts and equipment inventory.
**Maintaining Property Standards**
- Ensures building and equipment licenses and certifications are current.
- Maintains property life safety systems (fire fighting equipment, sprinkler systems and alarm systems).
**Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service**
- Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
- Reviews comment cards, guest satisfaction results and other data to identify areas of improvement.
- Shares plans with property leadership and ensuring corrective action is taken to continuously improve guest satisfaction.
- Strives to improve service performance.
**Conducting Human Resources Activities**
- Supervises staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met.
- Helps train employees in safety procedures.
- Assists in training other department employees in fire protection, safety and evacuation procedures.
- Provides feedback to employees based on observation of service behaviors.
- Assists in performing operational activities as necessary.

Position Summary:

The Engineering Manager leads the engineering team through various product development and production cycles.   • Develops process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA's), control plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and supports problem solving initiatives by implementing corrective action.
  • Complies with the requirements of Quality Operating System (QOS).
  • Modifying design of existing plant layout based on internal/external customer requirements.
  • Maintaining a thorough knowledge of product design techniques and all CAD software systems, maintaining drawings and nesting databases.
  • Initiating and driving justification for upgrades to processing, equipment and WIP, to enhance performance of system and value to the customer.
  • Provide expertise in industrial engineering and process design to other departments.
  • Understanding of the concepts of synchronous manufacturing and lean production manufacturing methodologies and the ability to formulate and implement a tactical plan.
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement and assists in its implementation on an ongoing basis implementing lean manufacturing principles to improve plant productivity.
  • Assists in the commissioning of new plants/ lines equipment, and other systems to ensure that the introduction into the production facility is handled efficiently and with minimum disruptions.
  • Monitor machine/employee ergonomic improvements & safety requirements.
  • Follows safe work procedures; Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); Uses workplace tools and equipment as instructed; Reports workplace hazards, injuries and illness as soon as possible following event.
  • Comply with duties and responsibilities as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and ensures corrective action is taken when violations occur.
  • Performs other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of departmental goals Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. Ensures that facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations.

Educational Requirements:

  • College Diploma or University Degree in the Mechanical Engineering field
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in the automotive or fabrication field with a proven track record of exemplary performance.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with the latest CAD software modules: design and layout, ideally has experience working with Pro-Engineer, Solidworks & Auto CAD

· Manufacturing Expertise: Develop and maintain expertise in all manufacturing processes and the associated equipment and tooling used in rubber gasket production.

· Process Optimization: Analyse and optimize manufacturing processes, production flow, and end-to-end material handling to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

· Tool Design & Maintenance: Oversee tool design and maintenance, ensuring that all tooling meets production requirements and is maintained in optimal condition.

· Material Expertise: Gain in-depth knowledge of the materials used in our manufacturing processes and lead R&D initiatives in collaboration with the Product Innovation team.

· Plant Turnaround: Play a key role in the plant turnaround in Toronto, redesigning fundamental processes, implementing knowledge management, and reporting systems.

· Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team that includes a Process Specialist and Tooling Developer, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely and manage relationships with other departments to ensure alignment on engineering initiatives and product development.

Requirements

Education & Certificates

· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology

· Professional Engineer Certification is beneficial but not mandatory

Technical Skill & Knowledge:

· 5 to 7 Years of Experience in Engineering Management, or a related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment

· Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma methodologies and problem-solving techniques.

· Expertise in use of mechanical design software such as CAD or Solidworks

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Division Leadership

  • Demonstrated experience in managing the financial performance of departments or multi-project environments
  • Minimum 10 years in medium/high voltage power distribution design.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Utilities industry.
