The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Client Service Manager, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is an unregulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides on-going client care. The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure. In keeping with Carewest's Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required.
Program Summary:
Rehabilitation and Community Transition Program (RCTP) – a short-stay restorative care program that supports medically stable

Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program

- Active and current registration in the Alberta HCA Directory required

About the Faculty of Health, Community, and Education
The School of Nursing & Midwifery at Mount Royal University invites applications for a 3.5 year term position, which will commence on January 1, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval, at the Rank of Assistant Professor.

The School of Nursing and Midwifery offers the following programs: Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Midwifery, and post-basic programs, including Bridge to Canadian Nursing and Advanced Studies in Critical Care Nursing Certificate.
About The Role
The successful applicant must, at minimum, be qualified to teach all introductory-level nursing courses and be prepared to actively participate in program and curriculum development. Preference will be given to applicants who have expertise in adult health acute care (medical/surgical), pathophysiology and recognized simulation credentials and experience with simulation education.
New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/ scholarship/ service pattern (TSS) has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/ service pattern (TS) has a focus on teaching and service only. The successful candidate will be hired into the teaching/service pattern (TS). There is an option to change work patterns after tenure.
The Successful Candidate(s) Will Have
- A minimum of Master's degree in nursing with PhD degree or PhD near completion preferred
- A minimum of three years' experience in their declared area of expertise
- Registered or eligible for registration with CRNA
- Immunizations for the practice area (including Alberta Health Services) are required
In addition, any of the following would be considered an asset:
- Experience in curriculum redesign
- Demonstrated commitment to enhancing equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility (EDIA)
- Experience in teaching pathophysiology and adult health
- Medical/surgical acute care teaching experience
- Medical/surgical acute care clinical experience (minimum 5 years)
- Experience with simulation as a teaching strategy
- Experience developing and supporting simulation educational strategies
- A program of scholarship
- Online teaching experience
Key Faculty Responsibilities Include
- Collaborating effectively with full-time and contract faculty members on curriculum development and program refinement
- Remaining current in areas of teaching responsibility and maintaining awareness of emerging trends in evidence-informed practice.
- Contributing to the program, School, Faculty, university, and broader nursing community through various levels of service-related activities

POSITION SUMMARY:
St. Joseph's Home Care is dedicated to providing quality and compassionate care to individuals in their homes and/or alternative settings on a visiting or shift care basis. Registered Practical Nurses enhance the life of their clients by providing a range of care to clients with predictable outcomes, within the framework of SJHC's policies and procedures and the standards of practice prescribed by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Clinical

KEY EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- One of either of the following - required
- Practical Nursing Diploma from an accredited college program + IV medication administration as part of the basic educational curriculum OR
- Practical Nursing Diploma from an accredited college program + IV medication administration certificate OR
- Practical Nursing Certificate from an accredited college program + a medication administration certificate + an IV medication administration certificate
- Current and unrestricted RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario - required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) - required
- Previous experience with specific nursing care (palliative, diabetic, COPD, patrilineal dialysis, etc.,) - preferred
