About The Job
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team at Corinex. This role focuses on the design and development of mechanical components, primarily mould-injected and die-cast, for our advanced networking and cleantech products. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical and electronic integration, including PCB assembly, and will possess hands-on experience with 3D CAD tools such as Pro-E (Creo) and SolidWorks.


This position involves preparing manufacturing drawings, supporting tooling modifications, and collaborating closely with electrical design teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electronic systems. You will contribute to project planning, cost estimation, and documentation while playing an essential role in ensuring product quality, functionality, and manufacturability. This is a dynamic role suited for individuals with a passion for precision engineering, cross-functional teamwork, and continuous innovation in the cleantech space.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical components (mould-injected and die-cast) for Corinex products, ensuring functionality and reliability standards.
  • Knowledge of electronics, soldering and assembly of printed circuits.
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings for new components and systems, recommending modifications to existing tooling equipment and ensuring design compatibility.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and extensive knowledge of Pro-E (Creo), product data management, and geometric principles. Knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Assist in cost and material estimates, project schedules, and report preparation.
  • Aid in the preparation of quotes and provide technical information to other departments as needed.
  • Document all related work and prepare 2D and 3D models and documents for conceptual design.
  • Monitor and inspect mechanical assemblies, construction, and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with the electrical design team to ensure alignment of technical drawings with project goals.
  • Develop and execute project plans in coordination with the VP of Engineering, ensuring adherence to budget, schedules, and project requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical or related Engineering field.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and Pro-E (Creo) for 3D modelling and design.
  • Experience in preparing 3D models and documents for conceptual design.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and extensive knowledge of Pro-E, product data management, and geometric principles.
  • Ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and materials effectively.
  • Willingness to travel based on project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the inspection and maintenance of tooling equipment, especially in the mould injection process and the die-cast forming process.
  • Familiarity with project planning and coordination alongside cross-functional teams.
  • Previous exposure to smart metering and cleantech projects.

YOUR MISSION 

Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the primary job duties of the Mechanical Design Engineer will include; 

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for mechanical design of low and medium-voltage switchgear/automatic transfer switches in the Custom-Engineered products team which includes; reading customer specification and datasheet and post technical questions to sales if any.
  • Preparation of preliminary mechanical drawings, preliminary bill of material, technical datasheet etc. for customer design approval.
  • Preparation of detailed drawings, final BOM and release to Purchasing.
  • Coordinating with sales and production for any technical issues.
  • Mechanical Engineering to include design of indoor/outdoor sheet metal enclosures, brackets, breaker mounting, electrical load bus bar systems and bus bracing for use in switchgear using 3D CAD modelling.
  • New Product Development design, project management.
  • Ensures compliance to existing processes and suggests continuous improvement ideas to existing processes.
  • Help formulate standard test plans based on existing protocols for regular products or components.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ARE YOU THE ONE? 

Required Education, Experience and Skills: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Technology Diploma in Electrical/Controls, or demonstrable equivalent expertise.
  • Proficiency in using Autodesk Inventor 3D, Solidwork and AutoCAD Classic.
  • Previous experience with 3D modeling
  • Manufacturing experience would be considered an asset.

  • Development of military vehicle sub-systems that, in parallel, satisfy the needs of efficient and effective manufacture / assembly and ongoing supportability, while not compromising in terms of robustness and reliability.

THE POSITION

Position Summary

Field Aerospace is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer 3 to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll apply your engineering expertise to design, install, modify, analyze, and test aircraft components and systems. You'll play a critical part in developing innovative mechanical solutions using industry-leading CAD and PLM tools to support mission-critical aircraft modification programs.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced aerospace environment, enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, and is looking to grow in a leadership-oriented technical role.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop detailed 3D solid models, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for mechanical systems and components.

  • Read, interpret, and create technical drawings, schematics, and models using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).

  • Conduct and coordinate engineering analysis to validate designs meet customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements.

  • Review and check engineering drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal standards.

  • Evaluate customer design proposals, technical manuals, and specifications to assess feasibility, cost, and long-term maintenance impacts.

  • Identify and resolve mechanical and system failures, diagnose design issues, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Lead and present technical concepts and design decisions in internal and external design reviews (PDR/CDR).

  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and designers.

  • Support configuration management and documentation processes within PDM/PLM environments.


Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • 4–6+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within the aerospace industry.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks strongly preferred), PDM, and PLM tools.

  • Direct experience with aircraft systems design and modification.

  • Familiarity with Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to complex technical challenges.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also leading and collaborating in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and willingness to mentor others.
