We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for technical assignments involving maximizing the manufacturability and maintaining timely product flow for the assigned products. The Manufacturing Engineer will implement and maintain efficient manufacturing equipment, processes and procedures; coordinating the introduction of new products into manufacturing, and identifying and solving production related problems, for assigned products.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR :
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
- Interfacing with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products.
- Estimating manufacturing costs, determining time standards, process qualifications, work instructions, and making recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new and existing product lines.
- Create and maintaining required documentation for manufacturing processes, process-failure-mode-effects-analysis, value-stream-maps, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis, and line balancing.
- Research and test design ideas to determine feasibility, utilizing lean manufacturing, kaizen, Six Sigma, poka-yoke, and root-cause analysis to formulate and support innovation, corrective actions, and improvements.
- Develop, evaluate, and improving manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design materials and parts, fabrications processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
- Collaborating with Quality Engineering to monitor product yield, provide product factory / field failure root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE :
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering – prefer Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering
- 6-9 years relevant experience
- Proven knowledge of manufacturing engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
- In-depth understanding of lean manufacturing principles, TAKT, value-stream-mapping.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to clearly recognize and export information relevant to sound manufacturing engineering design.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, problem solving techniques, and quality processes.

POSITION OVERVIEW :
Under the guidance of the Engineering Manager, this position performs a variety of functions in an engineering and manufacturing capacity. These duties include but are not limited to developing, revising, and editing CAD drawings for fabricated products, creating, and revising bill of materials (BOM) based on designs, trouble shooting and evaluating design inefficiencies and providing support, and assisting in other engineering projects, as required. QUALIFICATIONS :
- 3-year College diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology
- 5+ years’ experience working within a manufacturing or industrial application environment as a Manufacturing Engineer preferably in the textiles industry.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering designs, and creation of bill of materials (BOM).
- Proficiency in mechanical design, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks, creating 2D drawings and 3D models.
- Must be good at conceptualizing ideas and converting them into a manufacturable design.
- Experience creating and working within the process of engineering and design.
- Experience using ERP systems.
- Training in Lean initiatives and the implementation of Lean, is an asset.
- Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Mechanical and control systems (PLC) knowledge and experience
- Vision systems experience.
- Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WMIS, Industrial and Construction Act.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Job Responsibilities:
Apply technical knowledge and expertise to ensure robust manufacturing process design prior to launch and lead production improvement projects. Manage manufacturing performance deliverables such as implementation of CI suggestions, scrap reduction initiatives and OEE improvements. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must be proficient in hands-on process troubleshooting. Proving current production with "fast response" troubleshooting Must have demonstrated track record of initiating and implementing process cost reductions in Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Set up and maintain all work cell and/or department standardized work instructions/procedures for the extrusion process.
- Be responsible for product trials, setting up material trial runs, and conducting tests as per the die trial procedure
- Assist in training production personnel on operating new or existing tooling, equipment and processes.
- Improve current production part process capability and repeatability through the optimization of existing manufacturing processes Ability to work independently and draw from experience in all aspect of the job assigned
- Work closely with Project Management Team to support new product launches, engineering changes implementation and product / process continuous improvement initiatives and related activities.
- Complete all required APQP-related activities, ECR processes, PRP (8D), and all other Quality Management System requirements as needed Ensure compliance and enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements, QMS (IATF16949), Health and Safety (ISO 45001), EMS (ISO14001), and security (PIP) requirements.
- Conduct time studies, identify capacity constraints and opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce manufacturing costs
- Support in the development of Process Control Plans and Process Flow Charts
- Development and maintaining documentation for PFMEA, Operator Instructions, Rework, Change-over procedure and instruction, Manufacturing Engineering Open Issues, and Continuous Improvement Program

- Support Preventative Maintenance Program development for all manufacturing process equipment Review part designs and provide feasibility input for ease of manufacturing and cost reduction
- Review tooling designs/gauges to ensure they are built to meet customer and Co-Ex-Tec requirements/standards, and will run to the quoted standard
- Review facilities and equipment requirements with relevant internal and external customers/suppliers
- Identify opportunities to achieve productivity, quality and service improvement targets for the business.
- Ensure, with the cooperation of other Co-Ex-Tec departments and Corporate that the division achieves and maintains the highest possible Customer rating for satisfaction; strive for zero defects in all areas of the business
BASIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

POSITION SUMMARY
Manufacturing Engineer (ME) works closely with and supports the production team by providing technical support on issues related to the coach build. Builds include but are not limited to concept, prototype, pilot, first and production builds. ME will assist production with the first and subsequent builds of new systems and proto type designs; prepare proposed design changes or revisions and assist with accuracy audits and root cause analysis, as well as participate in continuous improvement events.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Assists production with the first and subsequent builds of new systems or revisions to existing systems.
- Assists with production planning tasks ensuring plant is ready for upcoming coaches.
- Provides point of use routing and the assembly sequence for all components through the subassembly and coach assembly line.
- Prepares proposed design changes or revisions to correct the current design.
- Continually identifies, suggests and implements cost reduction projects to reduce the overall cost of the coach.
- Assists with audits that measure the bill of material and routing accuracies; identifying root cause of inaccuracies.
- Reviews tooling and fixture needs to improve the assembly process.
- Researches the latest technology and manufacturing practices or identifies improvements to current practices/ processes and introduces these into production.
- Prepares documentation for production as needed to ensure coaches are built per coach design and customer requirements (procedures, work instructions, visual aids, etc.)

- Certified Mechanical/Manufacturing/ Industrial Engineer or Engineering Technologist or acceptable equivalent of education and/or experience.
- One to five-year experience in a manufacturing setting preferable in transportation, automotive or bus
- industry.
- Familiarity/experience in a Six sigma, LEAN, JIT environment.
- English language fluency (read, write, speak and understand).
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and documentation (e.g. blue prints).
- Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision and process oriented.
- Computer skills: typing, ability to use of Microsoft Office and Windows, etc.
- Experience with AutoCAD or CAD/CAM software is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including experience working with people in a manufacturing environment.

Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes to achieve the company's production goals. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency in the manufacturing operations
Key Responsibilities:
Process Design and Implementation: Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
Automation: Design, build and implement automation to improve production efficiency and quality.
Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement: Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities and plan, implement to enhance operational efficiency.
Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure that manufacturing processes meet industry standards and product specifications.

The opportunity
dcbel is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer that will be responsible for the industrialization, optimization, and continuous improvement of products and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate is a hands-on individual contributor with at least 5 years of manufacturing experience, who thrives in a dynamic environment and is willing to get directly involved to drive results.
Main responsibilities
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) ramp-up and training at contract manufacturer sites. Maintain issue logs and track issues to resolution.
- Populate ERP, MRP, and PLM systems with accurate production data.
- Own part quality, process optimization, and supplier industrialization throughout the product lifecycle.
- Monitor production throughput and quality metrics; recommend and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Develop, map, and optimize manufacturing process flows, takt times.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure alignment with dcbels quality and manufacturing standards.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure robust error-proofing (poka-yoke) is built into manufacturing processes.
- Lead and close NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Requests) efficiently, preventing recurring issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives targeting cost reduction, waste elimination, lead-time improvements, and quality enhancement.
- Actively participate in design reviews with dcbel Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability and develop effective DFM (Design for Manufacturability) strategies in collaboration with suppliers.
Key requirements
- Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience and proven ability.
- 5+ years experience working with electromechanical products; quality management experience is an asset.
