As aSenior Control Systems Developer , you will contribute to complex engineering projects and products through designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software applications using object oriented programming, industrial programming, communication protocols and more!


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, create and maintain product-centric functional PLC and HMI programs.
  • Support and maintain development through all stages of the CI/CD lifecycle
  • Identifying and implementing operational improvements
  • Create and apply innovative algorithms for mechanical and electrical system controls
  • Implementing changes to existing and creating new engineering designs with respect to control systems hardware and software
  • Conduct code reviews, regression testing, end-to-end testing, debugging, and more
  • Contribute to projects and post-deployment activities by providing technical documentation, adhering to coding standards, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Execute on-site control system and software commissioning at global rail locations


Who are you?:

  • 5+ years of experience in controls and/or software development
  • A related degree or diploma inElectrical, Mechatronics, Control or Electronic
  • Experienced in all phases of the development life cycle
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Proficient in PLCs (Siemens, Rockwell, etc.)
  • Profound understanding of control algorithms and design practices
  • Knowledgeable in industrial communication protocols (Profinet, Modbus, CAN etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate to an array of technical and non-technical audiences
  • Passion for learning and keeping up to date with new technologies
  • Ability to travel and work in industrial environments

- Define engineering and delivery model strategy for Substation Automation, IEMS and associated site services activities
- Develop & Manage Installed Base data, use it to identify opportunities with Commercial team
- Support interface with central operations and engineering teams for technical priority management
- Be an active contributor to Customer Complaints (ACT or equivalent) solving
- Lead EHS/Safety actions and performance: be fully compliant with GE rules and processes, ensure engineering teams (own and subcontracted) are properly trained and holders of required qualifications when required. Lead to EHS monitoring actions, perform HSV
- Follow GE Vernova compliance Policies ('The Spirit and The Letter') and promote open reporting
- Act as chief operating officer in compliance with engineering regulatory bodies (e.g. APEGA)
- Support Commercial team by return of experience, optimizing engineering costs & deliveries
**Qualifications / Requirements:**
- Bachelor of Engineering degree from an accredited university or college.
- Engineering and Business knowledge, with mandatory experience in Automation activities
- Min 8 years of experience in Electricity and Automation engineering
- Knowledge of Electricity Transmission, Distribution & Industrial markets
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of network communication protocols including; Modbus, OPC (DA, AE, UA), DNP3, IEC61850 etc.
- Knowledge of cyber asset protection regulations effecting the utilities industry including; NERC CIP, NIST
- Capability to manage & motivate an engineering team

- Supervise and support sub-disciplines consisting of Piping Material Engineering, Piping Material Control, Stress Engineering, and Process Graphics

**Basic Job Requirements**
- Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twenty-five (25) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty-seven (27) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials
- Practical field experience
- Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs

Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $110,500.00 - $204,500.00
The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

In this role, you will impact the efficiency and productivity of our customers' operations. You will be responsible for providing Field Service Support for Honeywell HPS applications and products at customer locations. You will perform maintenance, audits, configuration, of Honeywell QCS control systems. You will work with the Field Services Manager and LSS business function to deliver services for Honeywell customers. Learn end-to-end HPS product and become a technical expert for complex Honeywell solutions/product offerings. This role will be based out of our client site in Kapuskasing, Ontario.
**YOU MUST HAVE** :
+ Bachelor's degree, or College Diploma in a technical field
+ Valid Canadian driver's license.
+ Ability to travel up to 10% of the time within Ontario
