Our Client in the Rail industry is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Telecommunications Engineer with proven experience in the design and implementation of telecommunications systems for complex infrastructure projects (e.g. railways, metros, smart cities), who is also familiar with BIM modelling tools to support multidisciplinary coordination and integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and specification of telecommunication systems (e.g. data networks, telephony, CCTV, access control, public address, signaling interfaces)
- Integration of telecom systems into 3D BIM models for coordination with civil, electrical, and mechanical disciplines
- Participation in design reviews using BIM tools (e.g. clash detection, model navigation)
- Support the preparation of technical documentation and digital deliverables
- Collaborate with BIM coordinators and other engineering teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of telecom data in the models
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Telecommunications Engineering or related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligible for licensing.
- Strong knowledge of BIM methodologies, standards (e.g., ISO 19650), and digital coordination practices.
- Knowledge of telecom systems (e.g., fiber optics, RF components, network layouts).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in infrastructure or transportation projects.
- Familiarity with BIM tools such as Revit, Navisworks, or similar
- Ability to read and interpret 3D models and integrate telecom components
- Clear Criminal Background check.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in Common Data Environments (CDE)
- BIM certification (e.g. BIM Specialist) is a plus
- Experience in international or multidisciplinary projects
- BIM certification (e.g., BIM Specialist, BIM Coordinator).
- Exposure to digital twin technologies and data integration strategies.
