As part of AtkinsRéalis’ Engineering Services group, the Airports team specializes in providing a full range of planning and engineering services for airport and heliport infrastructure projects to local, national, and international clients. Projects range from small assignments, such as runway extension studies and apron expansions, to airport master plans and taxiway and runway infrastructure rehabilitation projects.
The Airport team is looking for an Intermediate to Senior Civil Engineer, Airports to join our growing team.
This role can be based in Toronto, On. We may be open to considering qualified candidates in other provinces where we have offices.
Your Role Within The Team
- Acting as civil design and/or a Project Manager in the design, for airfield infrastructure projects for private airports, regional and international airports by applying principles of civil engineering. Specific tasks include geometric and structural design of new runways, taxiways, aprons, airside service roads, airside commercial developments including associated site servicing, grading, earthworks and stormwater management.
- Oversee the development and preparation of figures, design drawings, specifications, calculations, life cycle cost analysis, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, technical reports, design briefs etc.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current Transport Canada, ICAO, FAA and related standards and recommended practices. Have knowledge of design and drawings using Civil 3D and AviPlan.
- Provide engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications; prepares records and progress reports defining construction progress; construction observation and evaluates the results from quality control testing.
- Have knowledge and experience using FAA FAARFIELD procedure and Transport Canada pavement design procedures for design of pavement structure.
- Contribute to the development of specifications and Plan of Construction Operations (PCO’s), Land Use Applications (LUP), and authoring technical reports and other documents.
- Support project management, proposal writing and business development and client base support.

- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and registered as a P. Eng (Professional Engineer) in at least one province, In Canada, with the ability to become registered in another as required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil airfield engineering design, project engineering or management in the airport. Experience in highway engineering or municipal design would be an asset.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD & MS Office and FAARFIELD software is a requirement, knowledge of PAVER would be an asset.
- Familiarity with codes including of TP312, FAA, ICAO regulation.
- Excellent communication skills (Oral and written) in English. French knowledge would be an asset.

**Job Description**
AECOM is seeking a **Design Manager, Airport Technology Program** to join our team. This position is based on-site, out of Mississauga. We are seeking professionals to join our team to help us build one of the most advanced, sustainable and passenger-friendly airports in the world.
**Major Responsibilities:**
+ Leads the implementation and coordination of multi-disciplinary design standards, working in close collaboration with the main contractor.
+ Oversees all pre-construction services, including design planning, site development, permitting, and procurement support across all design phases.
+ Serves as the primary client interface throughout all project phases, providing technical leadership, guidance, and subject matter expertise in design development.
+ Manages design consultancy agreements to ensure alignment with contract requirements related to technical specifications, schedules, and budgets.
+ Facilitates design reviews and ensures timely, coordinated input from all stakeholders to support efficient decision-making.
+ Oversees reviews conducted by external stakeholders, including airlines, regulatory agencies, and authorities having jurisdiction.
+ Prepares and presents progress and performance reports to senior management and executive leadership, highlighting key risks and opportunities.
+ Coordinates the client's design review and approval process across all phases, ensuring a smooth transition from Development to Construction.
+ Provides technical support to delivery teams, applying knowledge of design phases and facility requirements to inform construction planning and execution.
+ Leads and coordinates quality reviews to ensure design compliance with program scope and technical requirements.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements:**
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:
+ University Degree in Engineering or Architecture + 8 years of experience in large capital programs in an engineering / design management position with a focus on terminal renovation / improvement programs.
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
**Preferred Requirements:**
+ Relevant professional designation is considered an asset.
+ Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in large capital programs, in engineering or design management roles, with a focus on terminal renovation and improvement projects.
+ Specialized experience in the design management of technology systems, including Building Management Systems (BMS), Life Safety Systems, Power Monitoring Systems, Passenger Boarding Bridges, Automated People Movers, and other building technology infrastructure.
+ Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit; experience with MicroStation, Civil 3D, and BIM software is considered an asset. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
+ Proven ability to conduct comprehensive design reviews and effectively lead design coordination activities.
+ Solid understanding of program development processes, including scope definition, cost estimation, scheduling, and risk analysis.
+ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead meetings and workshops with diverse and large stakeholder groups.
+ Strong technical expertise across all phases of project development, with a track record of solving complex challenges through data analysis and informed decision-making.
+ Demonstrated experience managing senior stakeholder relationships and delivering high-level strategic reporting to support effective executive decision-making.
