A.S.P. is looking for an Airport Operations Communication Centre Agent that will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless communication and coordination within Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. As the first point of contact for internal departments, airlines, and airport service providers, you will be instrumental in maintaining operational efficiency and delivering exceptional service to our passengers. A successful candidate will be required to work with integrity, respect, and take responsibility for the security and safety of the airport.
What you will do:
- Monitor and operate access control, CCTV and other intrusion systems;
- Respond to routine and emergency calls for service and various alarms;
- Gather critical information to initiate appropriate response, including prioritizing responses;
- Control PSL doors using automated access control systems;
- Determine requirements for emergency assistance and activate the appropriate agencies, divisions, units or individuals;
- Monitor status, provide situational updates and keep track of on duty units and resources using various telecommunications devices and systems;
- Acquire necessary information to analyze and anticipate escalating or deescalating situations;
- Provide support to resolve problems, issues and complaints;
- Provide information to employees and the public about the airport;
- Sign out visitor passes;
- Record all information in Ports Toronto’s Records Management System;
- Liaise closely with supervisors and airport management;
- Answer multiple phone lines and radios including the Airport Emergency line primarily through the use of Ports Toronto’s integrated communication system; and
- Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.
- Must successfully complete a communication and computer knowledge evaluation.
Who you are:
- Minimum High School diploma or Grade 12 education.
- Minimum of two (2) years of security related experience.
- Education in Emergency Communications, Dispatch, Aviation Operations, or Security is an asset.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Ability to obtain a Restricted Access Identification Card (RAIC) and maintain it as a mandatory requirement.
- General knowledge of Access Control, Alarm, Phone, Computer, and CCTV systems;
- Restricted Radio Operators Certificate – Marine;
- Knowledge of the airport physical site and systems and who is responsible for each;
- Knowledge of various stakeholders, tenants and service providers;
- Comprehensive understanding of all applicable plans, maps, and SOPs; and
- Minimum of 300 hours training in the AOCC.
- Comprehensive knowledge of common security policies and various related Acts, Codes and legislation, including the Criminal Code, the PSISA, the Trespass to Property Act, the Fire Code, AODA, and WHMIS
- Must possess a valid security license, Driver’s License (G or higher) with a clean driving abstract, Standard First Aid & CPR certification, and willing to provide Criminal Record check upon request.
- Excellent written & verbal communication, and active listening skills.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Able to work on nights, weekends, weekdays, and holidays.

The Traffic Control Person (TCP) is a vital position for MacKay Contracting Ltd. This is an important role working with the traffic control crew to ensure the safety of all stakeholders impacted by the site (crew members, motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, etc.) throughout the duration of the Project. This also leads to affirming that MacKay Contracting delivers the highest quality product and service, and our ability to exceed customers expectations and improve our safety profile.
Location & Hours:
This role will be based out of the Cranbrook B.C. headquarters office, with various job locations in the East Kootenays. The shift schedule is generally Monday through Friday but could vary depending on the job location and with flexibility for weekends based on client requirements. This position will involve travel out to the jobsites. There may be occasion(s) where overtime may be required but is not expected to make up a major component of the role. This role reports to the Civil/General Foreman/Superintendent or designate.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Read and execute traffic control plans with proper equipment, ensuring they meet B.C. MOTI requirements
Set up, maintain, and take down traffic control devices and signage- Execute duties in a professional manner
Ensure workspace is free of traffic
Regulate traffic flow and stop traffic whenever required by the progress of work, or to keep traffic moving at reduced speeds to avoid tie-ups or delays- Operate hand-held radios to communicate
- Communicate effectively and professionally with crew, motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and construction personnel to maintain a safe and efficient traffic flow
- Provide simple directions, explain hazards and answer questions in a professional manner
- Site maintenance and other duties as may be assigned
Conduct hazard assessments with the team and onsite Civil/General Foreman/Superintendent
Report unsafe work situations to the onsite Civil/General Foreman/Superintendent- Attend daily toolbox sessions
Daily completion and submission of daily timecards
Qualifications & Skills:
- Must have valid TCP certification
- Knowledge of Worksafe BC Compliance protocols
Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence with clear abstract
Demonstrates a high level of initiative and a positive attitude
Must be able to give and follow both oral, written and hand-signal instructions
Excellent communication and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Reliable, responsible, and dependable: MUST show up for each shift and be ready to execute traffic control plan in advance of shift start
Able to work and troubleshoot in high-stress situations professionally, calmly and effectively

The Universal Group, recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed companies in 2025, has exciting opportunities in our Traffic Controlteam.As a Traffic Control Person (TCP), you will ensure the safety and flow of traffic in work zones. You will be responsible for setting up traffic control zones, adjusting work zone equipment, and responding to emergencies and hazards. You will also play a critical role in upholding quality, delivery, safety, and responsiveness requirements, ensuring that the company's operations run smoothly and without incidents.
What you will be responsible for:
Traffic Control Setup
- Set up traffic control zones and adjusts work zone equipment.
- Gives traffic control directions and signals clearly and precisely so that motorists understand their meaning.
Safety and Compliance
- Effectively conducts traffic control at worksites within the abilities and experience of the training provided to protect workers, the public, and our employees.
- Attends health and safety toolbox/tailgate meetings as required to discuss matters related to the worksite and work to conduct.
- Participates in accident/incident investigations as necessary to ensure compliance with investigative policies and procedures.
- Completed required documentation for due diligence and compliance with acts, regulations, standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Reporting and Communication
- Effective communication skills with the ability to de-escalate public frustrations.
- Reports to dispatch manager or health and safety advisor any health and safety matters, noncompliance issues, or conflicts with any employee or direction from the contractor.
Safety Gear and Equipment
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) required by WorkSafeBC regulations and any additional, site-specific PPE as required by contractors.
Certification and Training
- Ensures the BC Traffic Control Person (TCP) certificate is maintained to be current and valid at all times.

What we need from you:
- Valid BC TCP Certification issues by a regulatory body.
- Effective communication and de-escalation skills.
- Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and responsiveness standards.

- Collaborates - Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shard objectives.

Where/When you will be working:
- Dispatchable region across Interior.
- Available for a minimum of 3 consistent weekday (M-F).
- Occasional weekend work available.
- Working outdoors in all elements and weather.
