Key Responsibilities:
As an Access Control Officer, you will be working as the main Security detail for Halifax Stanfield International Airport. You will ensure the safety & security of all passengers, workers and flight personnel by monitoring the Primary Security Line or PSL at various gates and access points. You will ensure that only authorized individuals have access to the restricted areas beyond the PSL.
Other duties include:
- 24/7 Monitoring the terminal areas, perimeter for safety concerns and suspicious behaviors.
- Ensuring all tenants and guests are adhering to the regulations laid out by Transport Canada.

Who you are:
- Minimum High School diploma or Grade 12 education.

- Ability to obtain an AVOP (Airside Vehicle Operating Permit) is mandatory.

The Cape Breton Regional Hospital is located in Sydney and is the regional referral and trauma center for Cape Breton Island. The Cape Breton Regional is part of a four-hospital complex that also includes Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated and Northside General Hospitals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
- Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Access Control : Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
- Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
- Collaboration with Hospital Staff : Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
- Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards
Requirements
- Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
- Must reside in Sydney, Nova Scotia

Requirements
- Clear Criminal Record Check (Letter of Conduct)
- Clean Vulnerable Sector Check
- Standard First Aid & CPR – Level C (CSA-approved)
- Immunization records for MMR, Varicella , and 2-step TB skin test
- Valid G Class Driver’s License
- Fluent English (oral and written)
- High school diploma
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- Must be a current resident of the Clarenville area
- Certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
- Applicants without these can complete Paladin's paid training with a 6-month commitment
- Prior work in security, healthcare, law enforcement, or related fields
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to remain calm under pressure and during emergencies
