AWS is looking for a Database Solution Architect, who will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for helping customers in designing solutions that leverage our Data & AI services. You will also create field enablement materials for the broader SA population, to help them understand how to integrate Amazon Web Services Data solutions into customer architectures. You may continue to sponsor the creation of new products and features from these requirements, working closely with product and engineering teams to minimize requirements drift from your customer's needs.
You must have deep technical experience working with database technologies, from design and optimization to data migration and integration. A strong background in database development and administration is preferred, in addition to experience in building application and architecture design. You will be familiar with the database offerings on Amazon Web Services and ecosystem of software vendors in the database space, and will leverage this knowledge to help Amazon Web Services customers.
Candidates must have great communication skills and be very technical, with the ability to impress Amazon Web Services customers at any level, from executive to developer. Previous experience with Amazon Web Services is desired but not required, provided you have experience building large scale solutions. You will get the opportunity to work directly with senior data architects at customers, Database SMEs, partners and Amazon Web Services service teams, influencing their roadmaps and driving innovation.
Key job responsibilities
- Thought Leadership - Evangelize AWS Database services and share best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, white-papers, reference architectures and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re:Invent, etc.

**Your Opportunity**
The Toronto office is seeking an architect to join its Buildings Studio. The primary role of the Architect is to interpret and translate the needs and desires of our clients, in collaboration with our multi-disciplinary teams, into cohesive design solutions. This process will involve production of drawings (2D/3D), and written material to support the conceptual direction of the project. This individual will often be required to present their ideas in formal and informal settings with a willingness and desire to hear and respond to constructive feedback. The architect is expected to work collaboratively with the broader team, conceptualizing, developing and documenting varying aspects of the design of a project, including but not limited to site and space planning, developing elevations, sections and architectural details, and product research.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
* Supports project teams in development of design documentation.
* Assists in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
* Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
* Participates in design critiques and pin-ups.
* Interprets and applies building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
* Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details.
* Coordinates building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
* Reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.
* Coordination of specs with construction documents.
* Assists in the evaluation and selection of building systems and materials.
* Attends project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
* Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating.
* Implements sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment.
* Assists in site analysis, research of concept, benchmark, typology, and precedents.

**Education and Experience**
OAA Registered Architect is a requirement.
Minimum of 10 years' experience is required.

Job Overview

The role of an Architectural Designer / Technologist is a full-time position in the company and will involve collaborating with the Architecture Project Lead and Interior Design and Construction teams to bring projects from concept through to construction. As a full-service architecture, interior design, and construction studio, we are looking to bring on a professional who is a self-starter and organized to carry out the duties below. This position will offer the opportunity to collaborate with our internal design team and to work with some of the most successful and affluent homeowners and business people across Canada.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Architecture
  • Has or intends on obtaining licensing an as Architect with the OAA
  • 5+ years of experience in architectural design and the production of architectural drawings from Schematic Design through to Construction Administration
  • Very high level of skill with Revit is mandatory
  • Experience in multi-unit mid-rise / high-rise residential and luxury houses required. Experience in other building types and interiors an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and other applicable laws
  • Experience producing high-quality technical drawings, construction documents, specifications, and 3D models
  • Strong understanding of building science and detailing
  • Strong knowledge of building systems and construction methods
  • Familiarity with the planning and approval application process
  • Excellent understanding of the language of Classical Architecture and of Audaxs design philosophy of Human Architecture
  • Hand drawing skills
  • Experience in the production of high-quality computer renderings and presentation materials

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up client files and organize Revit models to ensure smooth project execution
  • Prepare design, tender, and permit drawings, adhering to office drawing standards and project specifications
  • Create presentations, AI designs, and high-quality illustrations and renderings
  • Develop mood and sample boards
  • Source products and materials
  • Capture site photos and upload them to the server for documentation and project tracking
  • Produce drawings in accordance with office standards and maintain consistent project documentation
  • Organize and maintain the sample library
  • Assist in client meeting preparation by ensuring all required documents (physical and electronic) are prepared and organized
  • Create and manage material schedules
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation, both physical and digital, throughout all project phases
  • Serve as an advocate for Human Architecture and embody the Audax mission statement in all facets of work
  • Promote core values of teamwork, quality design, professionalism and high client service

Key Requirements:

Roles and Responsibilities
You will be expected to contribute to the design development of projects and the production of drawings in an accurate and timely manner. You will be able to work independently on specific tasks and as part of a project team. The position will require you to assist in producing drawings and documents as directed by team leaders, which may include all phases of the project. Work may include graphic and presentation work as well as general project organization and filing. We will expect you to ask questions, communicate with your team members and organize your work to meet goals.


Skills Required
Our ideal candidate will be a graduate from a CIDA accredited (or equivalent) post- secondary institution with a minimum Bachelors degree in Interior Design. We are looking for a talented and well-rounded individual who enjoys both the design and technical sides of Interior Design and Architecture. Time management and the ability to contribute to meeting deadlines are the attributes we expect from all of our employees.


To qualify for this position you need to possess:

  • Residence within commuting distance to downtown Toronto, ON.
  • Strong design, graphic and presentation skills, including the ability to translate ideas from concept to detailed drawings.
  • Experience (min. 5 year post-graduation) in an architectural office environment in Canada.
  • Experience in significant project phases from concept through completion.
  • Experience with and interest in tenant improvements.
  • Experience using AutoCAD 2018 (or above) and Revit software.
  • Excellent understanding of ON Building Code, Toronto Building Code Bylaws and basic building envelope concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member, and to incorporate direction well.
  • Well-developed problem solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work within project constraints.
  • A desire to gain real-world skills that will aid you throughout your career.


Our ideal candidate will be either an Architectural Graduate with a Masters Degree in Architecture or an Interior Designer from a CIDA accredited (or equivalent) post-secondary institution with a minimum Bachelors degree in Interior Design.
