A Penske Technician II will generally assist in the overhaul of major components or remove/replace major components at the direction of Lead Technician or Maintenance Supervisor. **Major Responsibilities:**
u2022 Demonstrate proficiency in the repair and diagnosis of u2013 with some assistance: Engines (gas and diesel), power train to include differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, PTOu2019s and wheel ends, electrical systems including starters and alternators, HVAC systems, steering systems, electronics to include ECMu2019s, ECUu2019s, sensors etc., engine bolt on items such as turbos, fan clutches, injectors, cooling system etc., brake systems including ABS, suspension systems (spring and air)
u2022 Perform mechanical and general appearance reconditioning of equipment for u201ctrade-insu201d and prepare new equipment for delivery.
u2022 Identify and determine parts required for repair of disassembled units
u2022 Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services
u2022 Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order
u2022 Maintain work area appearance and safety
u2022 Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
u2022 Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
u2022 Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
u2022 Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
u2022 Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
u2022 Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
u2022 Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
u2022 Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
u2022 Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
u2022 Specialize in repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmissions and differentials, to include replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components etc.
u2022 Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
**Qualifications:**
u2022 2+ years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required
u2022 Must be currently enrolled in an apprentice program
u2022 Must maintain membership/registration with respective Government Agencies
u2022 Will consider candidates with a 310S license or automotive background
u2022 Specialized training in the repair and replacement of vehicle components preferred
u2022 Proficiency in the use of shop tools required
u2022 Current driver''s license class G or class 5 and the ability to obtain class DZ it within 6 months of been hired required
u2022 Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems.
u2022 Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions required
u2022 Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

- Apply paint using 1-quart gravity feed spray guns and 2-quart siphon feed spray guns, adjusting techniques to cover large surface areas efficiently.
- Maintain and clean spray guns, nozzles, and other painting equipment to ensure consistent application quality.
- Utilize advanced painting techniques, including feathering, blending, and masking, to achieve precise finishes.
- Work efficiently within a high-paced production environment, balancing quality, speed, and consistency to meet production targets.
- Follow strict safety procedures when handling paints, solvents, and pressurized equipment.
- Previous experience in high-volume automotive, heavy-duty transportation, or aviation painting is strongly preferred.
- Certification in Automotive Refinishing or a related trade is considered a strong asset.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints to determine paint application areas, color matching, and sequencing.
- In-depth knowledge of paint preparation, priming sequences, and finishing procedures for various materials, including aluminum, steel, fiberglass, and plastic.
- Hands-on experience working with Axalta paints or similar high-performance coatings is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify imperfections, inconsistencies, and proper adhesion.
