Heavy Equipment Operator
As a heavy equipment operator, you’ll be spending most of your time working with a variety of heavy machinery, primarily excavators but also including bulldozers, loaders, skidsteers and rollers, while making sure that the machines are in good working order. There will be many different tasks from day to day, so we need someone who’s competent and willing to learn new skills. We also want someone who can work independently and can take initiative when there are unexpected challenges.

The Details
This is a full-time position, with a starting hourly rate of $32-$40/hour, based on ability and experience. That’s not all; we offer benefits and group RSP options after a waiting period, paid emergency days, paid overtime, and more!
Qualifications
- 5+ years of current experience operating heavy equipment, primarily excavators and bulldozers. We need someone who can be productive and independent from day 1.
- Experience working as a heavy equipment operator in civil, landscape, earthworks, environmental, or infrastructure construction.
- Embody the values that our organization is built on and be motivated to contribute to our mission.
- Previous health and safety training is an asset, and a strong commitment towards health and safety in the workplace is a must have.
- Verbal communication skills and experience working in a team.
- Physically fit and able to lift 50+ lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
- Able to provide a driver’s abstract/driving record prior to the interview.

Heavy Equipment Operators are responsible for the safe operation of various pieces of equipment used in a variety of settings. For this role, you will have experience in civil construction operating any of the following pieces of equipment: of Dozers, Loaders, Excavators, Skidsteer and Backhoes .
Duties :
Assist the Site Supervisor, Heavy Equipment Operators, and other job site crew members with all tasks and assigned duties.
Use heavy equipment to dig, load, move, spread, and erect or demolish structures. Operate all functions of the rock truck, including staging, hauling and dumping procedures. Operate a loader to perform heavy civil labour work such as loading trucks and moving material. Operate an excavator to perform heavy civil work around pipelines and utilities. Operate a dozer to move and grade earth, rock, gravel or other materials during construction and related activities. Operate other equipment such as a skid steer and zoom boom.
Assemble equipment and join attachments on machinery.
Locate underground pipes and wires prior to beginning any excavation work.
Work closely with other heavy equipment operators and with ground crew.
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks; advise Site Superintendent and/or Mechanic of any requirements for maintenance or repair.
Participate in routine fueling and maintenance.
Clean equipment as scheduled and/or required.
Practice workplace safety and comply with all safety rules and regulations.
Ensure regulated and proper headgears, earplugs, gloves, safety glasses and clothing are worn at all times.
Ensure the equipment is safely and securely stored.
GPS knowledge.
Requirements :
5+ years' experience in civil construction.
2+ years' experience on various pieces of heavy duty equipment.
Be willing to work outside of the machine when necessary.
Have a valid driver's license, clean drivers abstract, and reliable transportation to and from work.
Be punctual, reliable, and hardworking.
Ability to work collaboratively as a team member and equally motivated working independently.
Have a proven safety track record.
Be willing to work extended hours (as needed).
Be comfortable using a cell phone application for tracking work time.
