Job DescriptionThe carpenter is responsible for constructing and maintaining buildings.
Required knowledge includes: construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control and safety.
The carpenter must be proficient at the following tasks: hanging doors, drilling and setting door hardware, setting windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, formwork, and reading blueprints. The carpenter must also possess the mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do materials estimates.
Qualifications- Journeyperson Carpenter ticket or currently registered apprentice
- Experience with a large general contractor
- Solid knowledge of tools, materials, safety, and construction best practices
- Valid driver's license and clean drivers abstract preferred
- Willing and able to work out of town (Edmonton and surrounding area)
- Ability to climb ladders for heights of up to 60 feet is preferred
- Concrete and formwork experience is preferred
- Valid Elevating Work Platforms, Fall Protection and First Aid certifications are considered an asset
- Lead hand or foreman experience considered an asset
