We are seeking a skilled IT Security Specialist to set up and configure a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system preferable with Elastic Stack. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring robust security monitoring and incident response capabilities within our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- SIEM Setup and Configuration:
Deploy and configure the SIEM system to collect, analyze, and store security event data from various sources (e.g., network devices, servers, applications).
Integrate the SIEM with existing IT infrastructure to ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Rule Creation and Management:
Develop and implement SIEM rules and use cases to detect security threats, anomalies, and compliance violations.
Regularly review and fine-tune rules to minimize false positives and ensure accurate threat detection.
- Monitoring and Incident Response:
Set up dashboards and alerts to provide real-time monitoring of security events.
Collaborate with the security team to investigate and respond to security incidents identified by the SIEM.
- Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain documentation for SIEM configuration, rules, and incident response procedures.
Generate reports to provide insights into security posture and compliance status.
- Onboarding and Offboarding:
Secure and onboarding for new hires and offboarding for departing employees, which involves setting up user accounts, provisioning and deactivating access to systems, and providing technical support during transitions.
Requirements
- Proven experience in deploying and managing SIEM solutions (e.g., Elastic Stack ***, Splunk, IBM QRadar, Azure Sentinel)
- Strong understanding of security event data, threat detection, and incident response.
- Ability to create and optimize SIEM rules for effective security monitoring.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Job responsibilities:
- Create a teaching-learning environment for the Cyber Security Program.
- Develop and deliver an effective learning experience using pre-authorized or CICCC-available course resources.
- Incorporate various teaching/learning methods to meet course objectives.
- Demonstrate Understanding and adhere to all PTIB requirements and college academic policies.
- Manage lesson planning, assignments, class, and overall course assessment while ensuring students are aware of course objectives and CICCCs expectations.
- Motivate and guide class discussions, encouraging debate and feedback from students.
- Challenge ideas, fostering students' skills and knowledge in critical and rational thinking.
- Motivate students through tutoring and academic counselling, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
- Provide academic support to students inside and outside of the classroom (regularly scheduled office hours, email, group study sessions, etc.).
- Prepare and submit to the Program Manager all relevant data concerning students on a regular basis.
- Attend and actively participate in department and faculty meetings, in-service training sessions, and relevant programs as required by the Program Manager and Academic Head.
- Conduct further research in their specific field for continuous improvement and development to meet the changing needs of the market.
- Engage students with a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory workshop sessions, seminars, case studies, and independent or group projects.
- Create and develop teaching materials, including audio-visual and web-related materials, where appropriate.
- Plan, prepare, administer, and grade papers, tests, exams, and other assessments to monitor and evaluate students progress.
- Maintain effective control and administration of classroom facilities, equipment, materials, software, and tools.
- Adhere to CICCCs policies and procedures, including being available to students and maintaining the confidentiality of students and information.
- The instructor must create a positive learning environment by consistently encouraging, motivating, and guiding students to accomplish educational and personal goals, helping them further achieve their professional goals.
- Perform other additional administrative duties related to the course requirement
Qualifications
- Bachelors or masters degree in the related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in the related field
- Previous teaching or training experience in Cyber Security or a related field preferred.
- Minimum one year of instructional experience or hold a training certificate in adult education
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students, cultivate a positive learning environment, and promote student engagement and success.
- Commitment to student-centred learning, academic excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Comprehensive skills in common workplace software, including online teaching techniques like Zoom and Slack.
