We’re looking for an Automation Engineer who thrives on solving problems, leading projects, and working hands-on with cutting-edge equipment, from PLCs and robots to ASRS systems and conveyors.

If you’re the type who’s just as comfortable programming a controller as you are leading a commissioning team on-site, you’ll love this role. You’ll be part of a collaborative Project Engineering team, delivering automation solutions across multiple Atlantic sites.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead & support automation projects during planning, execution, and commissioning phases.
  • Manage project activities to ensure goals are met on time and within budget.
  • Work with diverse stakeholders such as operations, maintenance, procurement, contractors, engineering firms, and regulatory agencies.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, including panels, drives, PLCs, HMIs, and automated controls.
  • Safeguard and maintain electrical control engineering documentation, PLC/HMI software backups, and drive parameters.
  • Manage and update engineering software on controls and drives.
  • Prepare and present project reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Oversee technical content for procedures and control programming during OEM training.
  • Maintain and optimize plant automation systems, including ASRS, conveyor control, and industrial robotics.
  • Design and update electrical schematics in AutoCAD for equipment modifications.
  • Provide technical training & support for plant maintenance teams.
  • Solve real-world technical challenges from single machines to full production lines and greenfield facilities.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven track record of delivering automation projects on time and on budget.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in automation engineering or project management in manufacturing.
  • Degree/diploma in Electrical/Controls Engineering, Industrial Automation, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron), SCADA/HMI, robotics, drives, automated conveyors, and industrial networks.
  • Ability to read and program PLC code, configure drives, and interpret electrical/pneumatic drawings.
  • Proactive problem solver with a high sense of ownership.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and project management tools (MS Suite).
  • Willingness to travel and work independently on-site.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet).
  • Experience in the corrugated or packaging industry.

Why you’ll love working here:

  • Work with advanced automation technology in a collaborative environment.
  • See projects through from concept to commissioning.
  • Be part of a company that’s growing, innovating, and investing in the future of manufacturing
