We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Early Years Facilitator/Registered Early Childhood Educator who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness, and empowerment to our clients, families, and each other.
The Early Years Facilitator/Registered Early Childhood Educator delivers Early Years services in an EarlyON Child and Family Centre and is an Early Childhood Educator in a Before and After School program. The hours of work shift within operating hours from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday to Friday; however, EarlyON programs may also operate on Saturday and Sunday. The location is the Wesley EarlyON Child and Family Centre and Wesley Before and After School Program, sites to be determined and may vary.
This position is a unionized, full-time, temporary position. The base rate of pay is 19.21 for the Registered Early Childhood Educator position and 23.58 for the Early Years Facilitator role. The rate of pay varies between 25.21 - 28.21 per hour based on the eligible wage top-ups available. This position is 40 hours per week. The contract is from September 2, 2025, and runs until January 15, 2027.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, promote, implement and evaluate day to day operations of the programs with the support of the Manager and Supervisor, Early Years and other staff.
- Ensure oversight, safety and care of all children, participants in the program at all times.
- Plan and implement programming based on the Ministry of Educations pedagogy How Does Learning Happen?
- Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is responsive to the interests and needs of the children in the program.
- Be familiar with and adhere to licensing requirements per the Ministry of Education, Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
- Ensure program needs are being met and in compliance with program licensing requirements.
- Be familiar with and adhere to all licensed program policies and procedures.
- Be familiar with and adhere to the EarlyON Child and Family Centre mandate, services, and procedures.
- Provide current and relevant information to parents/caregivers about services in the community and at Wesley that may address their needs and make appropriate referrals as required.
- Facilitate engaging programs and/or workshops in the EarlyON Child and Family Centre.
What you will bring:
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with urban core children ages 2-12 years.
- Experience working in a child care setting, with parents and with community partners.
- Documentation to support ongoing professional development in the field of early learning and care.
- Strong team experience and organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation, i.e., Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and implement services and programs for children and adults attending the Wesley EarlyON Child and Family Centre. Ensuring that program statistics stay within annual targets.
- Assist families in registering for a KeyON account and accessing registration for programs.
- Provide current and relevant information to parents/caregivers about services in the community and at Wesley that may address their needs and make appropriate referrals as required.
- Welcome, support and interact with program participants, remembering to be sensitive to all families including those culturally diverse, LGBTQ+, young parents, etc.
- Ensure the Wesley EarlyON Child and Family Centres compliance with all legal requirements including reporting serious occurrences through the proper reporting procedure.
- Ensure programming is based on the Ministry of Educations pedagogy, How Does Learning Happen?
- Prepare and maintain a child-friendly environment, and ensure all program participants are supervised.
- Facilitate workshops at Wesley EarlyON Child and Family Centres as required.
- Participate and contribute to team meetings and staff development opportunities and keep abreast of current early learning and care trends to maintain high-quality service.
- Follow the policies and procedures of the programs and Wesley.
What you will bring:
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Two years of current experience in working in an EarlyON Child and Family Centre (ages 0-6 years) and with community partners.
- Current and thorough knowledge of KeyON (digital sign-in membership application) and current experience working within the application.
- Current knowledge of the use of the Infant and Early Years Mental Health Pathway.
Demonstrated skills in work collaboratively with community partners on early learning and care initiatives.- Experience and sensitivity working with all families including those in an urban core setting, culturally diverse, LGBTQ+, young parents, etc.
- Current 1st aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate, N.V.C.I. training, ECERS and evidence-based parenting workshops.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Childcare Manager, the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) is responsible for providing safe, quality, caring and supportive childcare to the participants of the qayaciikiis Headstart Childcare Centre program. The program ensures that the childcare needs of all participants meet the regulatory standards as prescribed by federal, provincial, and municipal governments. The role must maintain a high level of confidentiality as required pertaining to citizens, clients, employees, and general matters of the Yuuuiat Government.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assists the Daycare Supervisor to develop and individualize the daycare program and curriculum.
- Delivers a developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum of activities and experiences to include:
- A balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities.
- A daily schedule the incorporates child directed activities, care routines, and transition times.
- Using a variety of techniques to assist children in learning, expressing themselves, self-help skills, play and social skills.

- Organizes space, equipment, and materials before activities.

- Participate in short and long-term planning and program evaluation for the qayaciikiis Headstart Childcare Centre.
- Ensures a healthy and safe environment by following the health and safety program which includes:
- Ensuring children are supervised at all times.
- Attending to childrens physical needs for diapering, toileting, eating and sleeping.
- Monitoring the environment for hazards.
- Reporting of all accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
- Staying up to date on childrens allergies and other special conditions.
- Following procedures for administering medications and maintaining health records.
- Reporting any suspected/known issues of child abuse as outlined in the Childcare Centre policies and procedures.
- Releasing children only to authorized persons.
- Following cleaning, hygiene, and food safety standards.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary in the performance of the position and as assigned by the Daycare Supervisor.
Qualifications
Training, Education and Experience
- Certificate in Early Childhood Education and a current license to practice.
- 2 to 3 years of directly related experience working as an ECE or ECE-A with infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children preferred.
- Experience delivering a daycare curriculum including culturally aligned Indigenous learning and activities.
- Current First Aid certification.
- Current Food Safe certification.
- Up to date immunizations and a clear TB test.
- Satisfactory criminal records check (vulnerable sector).
- Current Class 5 BC Drivers License.

- Enjoys working with young children and actively contributing to their healthy development.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood education with well-developed child behavioural management skills.
- Able to support and actively participate in a variety of play and learning activities.
- Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills including conflict resolution.
- Strong cultural sensitivity and understanding.
- Able to build caring relationships with a variety of age groups built on trust.
- Ability to serve as a role model to young children.
- Strong planning and organization skills.
