Kiewit Energy Canada is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. We are a major industrial contractor that work on projects that involve construction of oil & gas facilities such as oilsands processing, including steam–assisted gravity drainage facilities, upgrading & refining, midstream facilities, power & co-generation, terminal projects (ex. LNG, LPG, etc.), and major mine developments. We also have a Modular Yard facility in Edmonton, Alberta. Our engineering branch is a leading-edge division that offers innovative engineering services for our current projects and new pursuits in Canada. Our design services group are based in Calgary and Houston offering expertise in process, piping, mechanical, electrical and civil/structural disciplines.

# **Location**

We are primarily looking for superintendents in the Edmonton, AB and Calgary, AB region. Assigments may be anywhere in Canada.

# **Responsibilities**

- Mentor and help to grow Jr. Superintendents
- Review and approve the balance of Foremen, journeymen and laborer’s composite labor rates
- Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meeting for communication)
- Develop a program to maintain good client relations involving staff on site
- Initiate and attend supplementary and regular meeting with client for problem resolution and planning
- Oversee and approve the monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections
- Review, approve and negotiate change orders
- Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover
- Maintain daily diary for record keeping purposes
- Ensure that all performance evaluations and completed in a timely fashion for direct reports
- Recommend, where appropriate, organizational, policy and procedural or staff changes
- Review and approve or reject promotions up to General Foremen.

# **Qualifications**

- 6+ years' Electrical Construction experience with 1+ years being in a Superintendent/Leadership capacity (preferably working on industrial projects such as oil/gas facility construction, renewable energy-related construction, etc.)
- Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit’s policies, procedures and software programs.
- Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.

Our Client is seeking an experienced and driven Intermediate Electrical Engineer. The incumbent will utilize their sound technical skills to provide technical support to operations, maintenance and shutdown organizations, and prepare high quality design packages, as required.

Job Responsibilities

  • This position requires thorough knowledge of design and engineering, electrical procurement and construction activities.
  • Perform electrical design and calculations in accordance with the relevant Canadian and Industrial (API, IEEE, NEC) Standards and client preferences.
  • Support proposal preparation, estimates, design basis, engineering estimates and construction work packages at each design phase (FEED, DBM, Detailed Engineering).
  • Manage projects of varying sizes within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Perform power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination and arc flash, including report writing.
  • Design and review of engineering deliverables such as:
    • Hazardous Area Classification Drawings;
    • Single Line diagrams, schematic and wiring diagrams;
    • Grounding and lighting drawings, cable/conduit/tray routing plans, substation and equipment layouts, cable schedules, panel schedules;
    • Equipment sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop, lighting calculations;
  • Preparation and review of specifications, data sheets, technical bid evaluations and procurement documentation for LV/MV equipment.
  • Review and sign off Inspection Test Plans and quality check forms.
  • Follow up with Electrical suppliers’ representative and facilitate electrical testing and commissioning at site.
  • Respond to site RFIs based on applicable standards and electrical codes When required, assumes a project lead role for completing specific tasks, including checking and provide technical guidance.

Qualifications:
  • Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Professional License (Eng) is required.
  • 4-9 Years of Electrical Engineering experience in the Oil & Gas Industry.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized post secondary institute.
  • Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator’s license is required to facilitate travel to work sites for engineering field review.
  • Knowledgeable in Alberta Electric Utility Code and CSA Standard requirements.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microstation and AutCad are considered an asset.
  • Experience with aerial line design software such as PLS-CADD, QUICKPOLE, SPIDA Calc. and lighting calculations AGi-32 is considered an asset.
  • 5 + years experience  in electrical distribution systems with knowledge of underground and aerial distribution and construction methods.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.

We are currently seeking a qualified Electrical & Instrumentation  Field Specialist/Engineer , to join our Construction  team, based out of Bethune, SK . The Electrical & Instrumentation  Field Specialist/Engineer   (FE) will be responsible for ensuring the relevant aspects of construction meets design intent. Bantrel is working with K+S Potash (KSPC) as an Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT), to expand the KSPC Bethune Potash Mine in near Moose Jaw Saskatchewan from 2.2 to 3.0M tonnes per annum over the next 5 years. The final production capacity is intended to grow over decades to 4M tonnes per year, doubling the current production output of potash. Key personnel will support the project from Saskatoon and Bethune, with additional support staff supporting from Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto. {NTD: Site hours / shift rotation options required from project}

This position is based in Bethune, Saskatchewan , with a Monday to Thursday schedule consisting of 10-hour shifts .

Spark Power is looking for an Electrical Engineer ( 2 to 5 years of experience) to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for developing electrical engineering packages for construction projects in the utilities, large commercial and industrial sectors. This is a very hands-on role, working directly with clients, our sales team and managers to answer technical questions and create proposed solutions.

What will you do as an Electrical Engineer?

  • The primary role of an Electrical Engineer is to perform power system studies using SKM, EasyPower or ETAP. These include Short-Circuit Analysis, Protective Device Coordination, Arc Flash Studies, Load Flow and Harmonics studies.
  • Provide arc flash hazard mitigation recommendations to improve equipment and personnel safety of our client.
  • Perform Ground Grid System Design & Analysis for new construction or substation upgrade projects.
  • Assist in developing protection philosophy and protection system scheme and design set.
  • This position requires interfacing with clients, owners, consultants and construction crew and therefore strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Responsible for working independently under general direction and will progress to carry out non-routine tasks of substantial variety and complexity.
  • The successful candidate will require a sound understanding of related electrical principles and practices.
  • Promote quality service to ensure employee, customer and supplier satisfaction.

Major Duties Include:

  • Perform Short Circuit, Coordination & Arc Flash studies using ETAP or EasyPower. Perform site data collection when required.
  • Perform Harmonics & Power Factor Correction Studies.
  • Perform Ground Grid Design & Analysis
  • Generate settings file for IEDs from manufacturers including SEL, GE, ABB, Basler AND Siemens
  • Create ,read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics, AC three-line, logic diagrams and SLDs
  • Inspect, test, operate and troubleshoot AC & DC control and protection wiring schematic.
  • Develop detailed construction work packages or engineering work packages.
  • Be familiar with industry-specific codes and Standards (CEC, CSA, IEEE, and NETA).
  • Create or Modify Single Line and Three Line Drawing using AutoCAD.
  • Be safety conscious and have the willingness to learn Electrical Lockout/Tag-out procedures and gain Electrical Safety Awareness.
  • Exercise due diligence in the care and operation of corporate assets.
  • Carry out such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Do you have the Spark? Here's what we're looking for

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of direct Electrical Power Distribution design and engineering experience, industrial facilities preferred.
  • P.Eng. designation will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of experience in Renewable, Industrial and Commercial facilities.
  • Working experience designing, developing, and leading different phases of Engineering Projects; from early stages up to Detailed Engineering.
  • Working experience developing and leading Construction Work Packages.
  • Working experience developing and leading Material Requisitions and Technical Bid Evaluations.
  • Working experience developing Electrical Area Classification studies, including thorough understanding of CEC / OESC
  • Proficient in various electrical calculations (i.e. Voltage Drop, Cable Sizing/Ampacities, Basic Short Circuit Calcs, Grounding Design, Equipment Sizing Ratings, Equipment Specification)
  • Proficient in various electrical software (i.e. SKM, Easy Power, CYMCAP, CYMGrd, ETAP or equivalent)
  • Working experience with Drawing Mark-ups
  • Working knowledge of Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.).
