Construction Estimator In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. This includes conducting detailed quantity take-offs to ensure all materials, labor, and equipment needs are fully accounted for. The ideal candidate would be someone with proactive communication skills and computer skills. Familiar with Plan Swift or other alternative software You’ll work closely with project managers, subcontractors, architects, and suppliers to develop estimates that align with project specifications and goals. Additionally, you will build and maintain strong relationships with our subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and ensure dependable performance across all projects. Qualifications * Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Construction Estimator, preferably with a general contractor in the GTA. * Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. * Strong proficiency in conducting detailed quantity take-offs using industry-standard software such as Planswift, Bluebeam or similar. * Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Sage, Procore, or other platforms). * Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and codes relevant to residential, commercial, and industrial projects. * Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen eye for detail. * Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, plans, and specifications with accuracy. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with subcontractors and the project team. * Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. * Knowledge of Ontario building regulations and local market conditions. We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our dedicated team at ROMAG Contracting Ltd. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate project cost assessments and contributing to the successful execution of our construction projects in the water and wastewater sector.

- Qualifications:
- Five or more years’ experience as construction Estimator in complex projects in the water and wastewater projects / Heavy Civil projects
- College Diploma / Engineering Degree
- Ability to work under pressure and achieve maximum efficiency
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to effectively solve problem and take decisive action within the limits of authority.
- Ability to take a proactive outlook as it relates to Health and Safety.
- Proficient MS Office and Windows-based computer applications skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written

An exciting opportunity exists for a Renovation Estimator to work with our intuitive team and to represent our valued client base across Ontario working in our Concord office. The ideal candidate should be detail oriented, driven by accuracy, is flexible to change, has strong prioritizing skills, and can manage their time effectively to ensure timely estimates are provided for the interior renovation of multifamily units and apartment suite turnovers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluation, updates, analysis of ongoing and new renovations projects based on scopes provided by Project Managers.
- Provide assistance and report anomaly, issues, recommendations and solutions to senior staff or direct manager.
- Assist in day-to-day analysis of outgoing material for ongoing job projects to assess outgoing material in order to ensure accuracy in distributed material.
- Update all corrects and log into system wide database.
- Work in accordance with project managers to coordinate and facilitate project information and preparations for new and upcoming renovations.
- Collects, analyzes, evaluates, and interprets information/findings to develop recommendations for improvement to existing projects.
- Collects, analyzes, evaluates, and interprets data from scheduling and project managers for ongoing renovation projects.
- Devise and implement fixes to determine ongoing issues, cost and solutions.
- Perform corrections, fixes and edits in accordance to client request on newly submitted quotes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- A College Diploma/University Degree in Project Management, Construction Management or experience in related discipline is preferred.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, clients, Project Managers and with all levels of staff.
- Strong understanding of residential renovations/unit turnover process.
- Knowledge of interior renovations terms considered an asset – Basic Familiarity with construction materials is a MUST i.e., Plumbing Connections, Paint Sheen, Differences between click and glue-down flooring etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and technical abilities.
- Ability to multi-task, work well independently and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficient in MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Self-Motivated, dedicated and highly disciplined team player.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be flexible, and willing to work in office environment – this role is strictly in office.
