Multiple Positions on Afternoon Shift: Monday through Thursday, 4:30 pm to 2:00 am and Friday, 3:15 pm to 7:15 pm

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for the rewarding position of Senior Five 5-Axis CNC Machinist at Ben Machine Products will include the following:

  • Set-up and operate 5-axis CNC vertical milling machines.
  • Use appropriate tools, fixtures and indicators to set up the machine.
  • Load, unload, change and modify programs as required.
  • Change and set cutting tools.
  • Modify and grind tools as required.
  • Adjust feeds and speeds for maximum efficiency.
  • Operate the machine with all safety precautions in place.
  • Deburr and prepare parts for loading and after unloading.
  • Measure and inspect parts to ensure dimensions are within tolerance.
  • Read and interpret blue prints.
  • Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Experience:

We are looking for candidates with the following minimum experience:

  • 10+ years' experience required.
  • Certificate of qualification, college degree or other training in CNC machining an asset.
  • Fanuc or Haas experience a must.
  • Familiarity with Mastercam preferred.
  • Previous aerospace experience preferred.
  • Previous jobbing shop experience preferred.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Experience with 5 or 9 Axis machines.
  • Journeymen Machinist certification with interprovincial Read Seal endorsement is an asset
  • Working knowledge of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (AOH&S) Regulations to ensure a safe workplace and the specifics health & safety practices in the machining industry.
  • Proficient in the fine tuning of the machining parameters.
  • Proficient with reading & interpreting manufacturing drawings, Imperial and Metric dimensioning systems, symbols including: Geometrical tolerances, isometrics, sections views, texture-finishing, limits and fits function.
  • Experience in the inspections and completing records using precision measuring tools, comparators and gauges applicable to the machining trade.
  • Proficient with Math and Geometry from the Machinist trade Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

About the Job:
Mahler Machining is seeking experienced CNC Milling Machinists to join our tenured and growing team. Our business is a leading high-precision component manufacturer for BC and international customers. No two days will be the same given our company's focus on low-med volume, high complexity work from a variety of industries including deep sea submergence, aerospace, alternative energy, medical, and manufacturing OEMs. Our climate controlled 20,000-square-foot facility in Coquitlam BC and is equipped with 20 CNC machines including a mix of vertical mills, lathes, and 7-axis live tooling machines. We also have a full quality control department with two CMM's and two full-time employees.

Candidates must be confident taking brand new parts from a drawing to a finished component including handling all programing, setting, and operating while working with tight tolerances (microns to 5 thou) across a range of material types. Our team of 35+ team members have extensive experience to learn from and receive coaching from. We support our employees with internal and external training as they look to build their skills.

Ideal candidates have programming experience offline (Gibbscam preferred) or online (Mazatrol preferred).

We are actively recruiting on our day shift (7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday) and afternoon shift (3:45 pm to 1:45 am, Monday to Thursday), as well as overtime as needed.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of CNC Milling experience setting and operating.

About our Milling Department:
Our milling department boats eleven CNC machines including 7 Mazak’s, 2 Haas, and one YCM. This includes a mix of 3, 4, and 5 axis verticals and horizontals milling machines covering a wide capability set for milling small and medium sized parts all the way up to parts 84” in length. All of our mills boast through spindle coolant, part probing, and tool probing in machine. Programing is done either on Gibbscam or conversationally through Mazak’s programing language Mazatrol.

PROFILE SUMMARY

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

Reporting directly to the Applications Manager, this position will be a key member of a team that plays a vital role in New Product Introduction & Launch.

GNs Multi-axis CNC Application Specialist job description includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Create and verify CNC programs for multi-axis machines (5-axis mills, 9-axis mill-turn CNC machines) using ESPRIT, to manufacture components with complex geometries, including simultaneous 5-axis motion to meet customer requirements.
  • Determine the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing sequences ensuring the full utilization of the machine tools capabilities.
  • Prepare detailed setup sheets for all the programs made.
  • Request tool requirements from the tooling management team.
  • Set up multi-axis CNC machines (e.g., DMG Mori, Mazak, and Doosan) with the appropriate tools, fixtures, and work holding solutions.
  • Prove out setup and run a few parts until process stability is achieved.
  • Provide technical support, guidance or training for less experienced machinists or operators.
  • Fill out Postproduction Feed Back form and hand it over to PDS
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives where applicable.

The Multi-axis CNC Application Specialist is expected to assist with implementation/upgrade training and development of machinist/trainee machinists.

INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS PROFICIENCY:

We are currently looking for a CNC Set-up Machinist for a client located in Concord, ON.

Responsible for the set up of multiple machining centers by assisting in the assembly and delivery of tooling to aid in efficient machine operation. Position may also assist with machine operation with instruction and supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the assembly and delivery of tooling to aid in efficient machine operation.

  • Working in a team environment, assisting with setup/operation duties on rush jobs to promote their effective completion.

  • Maintain a clean, effective and safe work.

  • Working knowledge of the fixturing system utilized in the machining department.

  • Assist in performing all required geometry checks at designated intervals.

  • Perform setups on multiple machines throughout all departments.

  • Assist with machine operation (possibly multiple machines if required) with supervision and instruction.

  • Manipulate CAM files to determine the setup details to facilitate independent progress on the setup.

  • Demonstrate the ability to notice abnormal conditions in setups and request clarification from a more senior Setup Machinist.

  • Must be prepared to work on various shifts with supervision.

Experience & Education:

  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma an asset or equivalent experience.

  • College diploma / University degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience.

  • Previous experience as a setup machinist trainee is an asset.

  • Some exposure and knowledge of CAM software.

  • Basic understanding of the theory and practical application of machining and machining-related procedures.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

What You'll Do:

  • Experience with Brake and Shear Press, Water Jet Table, and Peddinghaus Beam Line is mandatory.
  • Experience with Weld Overlay equipment is an asset.
  • Proficient in operating CNC machinery, tooling, and precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to read mechanical documents and drawings.
  • Basic computer programming and CAD/CAM knowledge.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, good math skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, unionized environment, maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Duties:

Schedule:

8-hour shifts - Day shift and afternoon shift available

Day shift: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm

Monday to Friday, overtime on Saturday may be available
