Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day accounting processes for multiple operating and real estate businesses
• Prepare accurate monthly financial reports and performance summaries for executive review
• Track and report on accounts payable and receivable across entities
• Process banking transactions, transfers, and credit card reconciliations
• Oversee government remittances and corporate tax filings
• Assist with year-end reporting and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
• Support cash flow planning and provide timely insights on liquidity and working capital
• Monitor outstanding receivables and provide updates on collection progress
• Assist in mortgage financing processes and draw requests

• Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, in a multi-entity real estate environment

About the Role
Reporting to a senior finance leader, this role will support financial close activities, internal controls, and cross-functional reporting. What You’ll Do

• Support the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand and analyze financial performance
• Prepare, review, or approve journal entries and other close-related transactions
• Support compliance with internal controls and audit requirements
• Assist with internal and external reporting, and variance analysis
• Contribute to finance transformation efforts focused on centralization and automation
• Provide accounting guidance for complex transactions and new business initiatives
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and support implementation

• Solid experience with the month-end close process, including reconciliations, reporting, and analysis
• Knowledge of IFRS 15 is an asset

• Experience working with large datasets, including data manipulation and analysis for major, data-driven projects
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with ALT (Automated Ledger Tools) or similar technology is an advantage
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in a financial accounting or reporting role

Role Overview

The Financial Accountant plays a key role in transforming day-to-day accounting data into meaningful financial insights. Acting as the bridge between transactional finance (AP/AR) and senior financial leadership, this role ensures the accuracy of financial records, prepares reconciliations, and delivers timely monthly and quarterly reports.

Core Responsibilities

Corporate & Financial Reporting

• Prepare and distribute monthly departmental budget reports, highlighting key variances and providing commentary to support department heads in financial decision-making
• Produce timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in line with corporate requirements
• Develop variance analyses between actuals, budgets, and forecasts
• Assist with management reporting packages, including summaries for executive review and board reporting

Month-End Close and General Ledger Oversight

• Execute month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring timely and accurate results.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of the general ledger and sub-ledgers to support reliable financial reporting.
• Partner with FP&A to ensure alignment between accounting actuals and forward-looking budgets/forecasts.

The Financial Accountant is accountable for the full accounting cycle, which includes financial reporting, analysis, government reporting, payroll, and all aspects of the accounts receivable and accounts payable process for the group of TAO Companies.

Your next career move

• Prepare and post accurate journal entries in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies for up to five separate entities in various currencies
• Manage and execute month-end and quarter-end close activities, including accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions and reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Provide support in weekly cash flow forecast and projections
• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial statements and investor reporting packages. Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary data and ensure reporting accuracy, conduct research, and resolve financial reporting issues

• Assist with annual audits by preparing working papers and responding to auditors inquiries
