Our client is looking for a Senior Fund Accountant on a contractual basis.
About the Opportunity
- Review and reconcile daily activity of the funds - analyze daily cash flow activities, reconcile assets and cash balance for private equity funds
- Generate cash management analyses including the preparation of wires and transfers
- Process fund level accounts payable and related expenses
- Prepare capital calls and distributions of private funds
- Prepare partnership allocations
- Input manual entries, prepare required daily reporting and journal entries to support activity
- Coordinate with team members to ensure all activity is accounted for on a timely basis
- Understand legal agreements to ensure relevant aspects are captured by fund accounting including the related impact on reporting
- Preparation monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and annual audit packages.
- Assist in the preparation of tax information for tax filings
- Respond to inquiries from counterparties, vendors, auditors, etc.
- Participate in projects and other general support as needed
About You
- The candidate will have between 3-5 years of accounting experience. US GAAP familiarity is ideal and public accounting experience is an advantage
- University/College degree with a focus on accounting or finance, or equivalent training
- A recognized Professional Accounting designation
- Ideal candidates should also possess:
- Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course
- Experience using an ERP system
- Financial industry experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills but also able to focus on the objectives of the project
- Strong self-starter with good organizational and time-management skills
- Good team player and excellent communication skills

The Financial Accountant is accountable for the full accounting cycle, which includes financial reporting, analysis, government reporting, payroll, and all aspects of the accounts receivable and accounts payable process for the group of TAO Companies.
Your next career move
- Prepare and post accurate journal entries in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies for up to five separate entities in various currencies
- Manage and execute month-end and quarter-end close activities, including accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions and reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Provide support in weekly cash flow forecast and projections
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial statements and investor reporting packages. Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary data and ensure reporting accuracy, conduct research, and resolve financial reporting issues
- Assist with annual audits by preparing working papers and responding to auditors inquiries
- Take ownership of compliance filings for sales tax or other government statutory filings
- Assist with A/P processing and reconciliation and resolving vendor and employee inquires
- Contribute to process improvements and automation of routine accounting tasks
- Document business processes and accounting policies used to maintain strong internal controls

Duties: * Perform day-to-day activities in full aspects of accounting cycles, including AP, AR, cash flow forecasting, revenue recognition and account reconciliation, etc. * Support all month-, quarter- and year-end accounting activities, ensuring they are completed accurately and in a timely manner. * Assist with monthly expense allocations between companies (CAD/US), to ensure accuracy of inter-company settlements. * Review and obtain necessary approval from project managers on all invoices for contractors, freight, and all miscellaneous invoices, ensuring adequate accruals are in place for period * Prepare monthly invoicing, compiling contractor invoices, project hours, project expenses and other data in preparation for cut-off - Project Accounting * Prepare the project costing and hours reports, investigates and explains significant variances from expected amounts * Support Controller in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting * Assist in the preparation of year end and statutory audits, and coordinate with the auditor on their requests * Reconcile all Credit Card accounts and Expense Reimbursements to ensure all expenditures are allocated to the correct projects, ensure approvals are in place * Communicate effectively with Controller as well as vendors, contractors, project managers and employees * Respond on a timely basis to requests for data and reporting from HO and work closely with the HO finance team when required * Other duties as assigned by Controller and/or management Requirements: * 3-5+ years’ work experience in Accounting or Finance, in a food manufacturing or engineering consulting environment * Knowledge of ERP system and ERP system implementation would be considered an asset * Exposure to full aspects of accounting cycles and period end procedures. * Experience with project accounting required * Experience with multi-currency environment * Experience with and an understanding of revenue recognition * Experience with process improvement an asset * Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently under pressure within tight deadlines * Ability to adapt and learn quickly, strong attention to detail and accuracy * Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Compensation: Competitive compensation, benefits, group RSP and ESP programs, gym subsidy Check us out at

Your new role
In this newly created stand-alone role, you will work closely with the existing management team both globally and in Canada. Your responsibilities will include reconciling bank and credit card accounts, managing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, processing monthly/quarterly HST/GST/Payroll remittances, and delivering monthly financial management reports such as budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. Additionally, you will handle month-end closing, produce reconciliations and transactions, engage with the CRA and relevant regulatory agencies, liaise with brokers and benefits providers, perform data analysis and reporting, assist with the preparation of financial reporting packages and statements, manage cash flow, develop schedules for auditors, and support the management of larger consulting projects by tracking days, costs, and margins.
What you will need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of 3 years of full-cycle accounting experience and a professional accounting qualification. You should have experience with provincial and federal taxation and remittance requirements. Being tech-savvy, with experience in QuickBooks or Xero cloud accounting, is an asset. Additional qualifications include experience in data analysis, financial statement analysis, financial planning, and reporting. Advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite, including Outlook, is essential, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
