Location: Toronto Hybrid – initial onsite immersion, then majority remote
Contract: 6 months - 1 year
Rate: T4: 64.70/hr or INC: 77/hr
About the Role
Our client in the Capital Markets sector is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to lead the documentation strategy for a proprietary low-code/no-code ETL platform supporting complex data workflows. You’ll create clear, structured, and user-friendly documentation for developers, business users, data teams, and support staff—helping drive adoption and understanding of this critical internal tool.
What You’ll Do
- Develop user guides, admin/configuration instructions, quick-start tutorials, FAQs, release notes, and workflow diagrams.
- Partner with developers, product managers, SMEs, and QA to ensure accuracy and business alignment.
- Document ETL tool functionality, workflows, UI, configuration logic, and integration points.
- Organize and manage documentation libraries for accessibility and version control.
- Champion best practices in documentation, metadata tagging, and content reuse.
- Support onboarding and training efforts with technical reference materials.
What You Bring
- 7+ years in technical writing or communications, ideally in Capital Markets or banking.
- Experience documenting data tools, ETL platforms, or low-code/no-code applications.
- Strong grasp of Capital Markets processes, terminology, and regulatory context.
- Proficiency with documentation tools (Confluence, MadCap Flare, Git, Markdown).
- Ability to create visuals with Visio, Lucidchart, or Draw.io.
- Comfort with reading XML, JSON, SQL for documentation purposes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science, Finance, or related field.
Nice to Have
- Experience with enterprise platforms or data integration tools.
- Familiarity with Agile environments (Jira, Bitbucket).
- Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and metadata management.
- Understanding of financial data reporting and regulatory requirements.
