Mechanics working in Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Valleyview will receive a skilled trades premium of 5/hour

Work Conditions: Work is based in your home shop, with occasional travel to field operations in your locale

As LHL respond to changing weather conditions, some on call duties may be required

Essential Responsibilities: Perform maintenance and repair of plows/sanding trucks, loaders, light support gear and heavy construction equipment

Perform CVIP inspections on trucks and trailers

Attend service calls in the field as required

Follows manufacturer and internal maintenance programs and inspection procedures

Engages and participates in Ledcor safety policies and procedures

Complete maintenance records and documentation as required

Qualifications: Current registration in a Heavy Equipment Technician apprenticeship with AIT

On-Road & Off-Road tickets preferred

Experience with heavy civil construction, highway paving, or highway maintenance equipment (e.g., snowplows) is an asset

Must successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

Valid Driver’s License with the ability to provide a 3-year driver’s abstract

Strong ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including those with sketches and diagrams

Responsibilities:

As a 310S Mechanic, youll play a critical role in ensuring our fleet and equipment are safe, reliable, and ready for each season. Youll work closely with our operations team to support daily landscaping projects and keep our team moving.

Fleet & Equipment Maintenance:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair company vehicles (pickup trucks, trailers, etc.)
  • Perform routine maintenance on small engines (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.)
  • Service and repair landscaping tools, including chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and irrigation equipment
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair Company vehicles (pickup trucks, trailers, Landscape equipment)
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify wear, damage, or safety issues
  • Complete oil changes, brake service, tire rotations, and other basic automotive maintenance
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, and other mechanical components
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance and repairs for all vehicles and equipment

Shop Organization & Inventory Management:

  • Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient shop space
  • Track and manage parts inventory, ensuring necessary stock levels are maintained
  • Order parts and supplies as needed, working with vendors and suppliers

Collaboration & Safety:

  • Work closely with the Fleet & Shop Manager and operations team to schedule repairs and minimize downtime
  • Prioritize safety by following all company policies and safety guidelines
  • Support the team with equipment training and proper usage practices

Qualifications:

  • 310S Automotive Service technician (ATS) (required)
  • Experience with small engine repair and landscaping equipment (preferred)

Your Role

Reporting directly to the Fleet Manager

  • You are responsible for evaluating and ensuring vehicle safety through preventative maintenance as required and all in compliance with all Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and Voyago / Transdev's guidelines.

The Opportunity:

  • Notify Fleet Co-ordinator of any additional repairs required
  • Participate in formal and informal training sessions
  • Help with accident investigations
  • Majority of work to be done outside, must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Perform other maintenance duties as required

What you need to be successful in the role:

  • Provincial Alberta Heavy Equipment or Truck and Coach Technician Certification, or interprovincial designation from other province
  • 2-5 years’ of prior work experience as a Technician
  • Prior experience working on trucks, trailers & containers an asset
  • Steel / aluminum welding experience (Stick/Mig/Tig) an asset
  • Knowledgeable with air brakes and electrical diagnostics
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license required
  • Must have suitable tools or willingness to purchase prior to hire
  • Able to use current technology to ensure vehicle safety and performance
