What You’ll Do – The Role
- Perform emergency service, preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and instruction for customer generators as efficiently as possible.
- Test, measure, and verify electrical component operations, including energized components and electrical fields.
- Program, test, and connect transfer switches.
- Program, test, and trouble shoot both generators set and synchronizing controls system.
- Conduct startups and load bank tests as required.
- Operate / diagnose engine driven gensets powered by diesel or natural gas.
- Build strong customer relationships by engaging in positive, professional communications.
- Maintain all company tools and materials, including an accurate inventory of parts.
- Communicate with the Supervisor on all aspects of service.
- Complete required service and equipment performance reports as required.
What You Need
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a generator field service technician.
- College-level Power Generation Diploma, Certified Mechanic with electrical skills or Licensed Electrician with mechanical skills preferred.
- A valid ON driver's license in good standing.
- Working knowledge of D/C and A/C electrical systems.
- Mechanical, engine, and electrical trouble shooting skills.
- Superior customer service skills and track record.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable using MS Office suite including Outlook suite.
- Strong time management skills.
- The ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

What is the role?
- System and equipment commissioning and startup, servicing, and Factory Acceptance Testing.
- Performing installation and maintenance activities on membrane system-related equipment.
- Performing mechanical and equipment-specific maintenance, modification, and calibration as required on all treatment-based equipment and instrumentation, including online analytical systems.
- Carrying out mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting on equipment such as pumps, blowers, instrumentation, and automation hardware, as well as on process parameters and performance.
- Providing training to operations staff and facilitating smooth system turnover to end-users.
- Interpreting detailed operational data and providing guidance and direction in the operation and troubleshooting of water systems as necessary.
- Performing basic electrical and programming tasks including but not limited to navigating control panels and troubleshooting and updating PLCs and HMIs.
- Acting as single point of contact for clients, contractors, and Project Management while on site.
- Working with Project Management to ensure all applicable project-related field, QA/QC, and contractual documentation is completed to facilitate project closure.
- Managing site deficiency list, coordinating with project team as required to ensure all items are addressed and finalized prior to leaving site.
- Participating in the development and reviewing of Standard Operating Procedures and Job Hazard Analysis as required for on-site tasks.
- Providing feedback from the field into product development and system design teams for R&D purposes and system improvement.

- Technical school or minimum five years experience with heavy machinery and structural steel installation
- Familiar with installation and adjustment of equipment utilized in wastewater treatment plants such as clarifiers, cross collectors, rail systems or similar.
- Basic knowledge of gear reducers, motors and controls is also required
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to climb on or around equipment, bend, reach, and lift (up to 50 lbs) at times.

Summary:
Associate Customer Service Technician/Field serves as primary customer contact on technical and service-related problems on a wide range of industrial, robotic and printing equipment. Diagnoses electronic, mechanical, software and system failures, using established procedures provided by our highly rated service training department. This job may include any aspect of field support, including electrical/electronics, hardware, software, PC’s, and networking. Provides technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects of system equipment. Determines most cost-effective repair/resolution to minimize customer downtime.
Note: This is temporary employment for one year with possible extension to full time permanent employment.
NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) POSITION – requires electrical and mechanical experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility will be to install, troubleshoot and repair a variety of industrial products that include, but are not limited to; printing and packaging equipment, cash recycling products, inserting and sorting machines, credit card attaching and processing systems, robotics and any other applicable third-party accessories attached as part of the system.
- Schedule and perform regular predictive/preventive maintenance inspections on equipment.
- Provide support by managing parts inventory, customer service calls and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Foster positive customer relations and a high degree of customer satisfaction by communicating effectively with customers.
- Act as a liaison between the customer and other departments/functions of the company.
- May need to provide an "on call" level of service up to seven (7) day/week twenty-four (24) hour/day for emergency customer assistance; respond to emergency and non-scheduled calls for service within established response time goals.

Education and Experience:
- High School degree or equivalent with 2-year degree or diploma in electronics/advanced mechanics/software training with 1+ years related industry/equipment experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Requires strong electronics and mechanical background, understanding of computer program functionality and software troubleshooting skills
- Associate degree preferred.
Travel:
- This position requires minimal travel in the United States and Canada for training and other requirements. For field only, local travel time could be greater than 50%.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to use standard and specialized hand, power and diagnostic tools and measuring equipment, such as oscilloscopes, DMM, gauges, etc.
- Requires lifting to waist fifty (50) pounds.
- Requires walking and standing; using hands to feel objects; reaching; and requires balance.
- Requires bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling for periods of time.
- Ability to work in a loud environment.
- Ability to work in small, cramped areas.
- Ability to work in elevated environment up to twenty (20) feet.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments as needed for specific service calls.
- Work is performed in a controlled office, retail, and manufacturing environment; noise within acceptable safety levels; paper dust prevalent; cleaners and solvents used to clean machines; machines contain moving parts.
