Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile Lathe Operator with experience in both manual lathes and CNC lathes . The ideal candidate will be able to set up, operate, and maintain both types of equipment to produce precision components to exact specifications. You will work from technical drawings, ensure quality control, and maintain high production standards.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate both manual lathes and CNC lathes to machine metal and plastic components.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders.
Select cutting tools, adjust feeds/speeds, and perform turning, facing, threading, and boring operations.
Load materials, monitor machining operations, and make adjustments to tooling and offsets as needed.
Perform quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
Maintain equipment in good working condition and perform basic preventative maintenance.
Follow all workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
Qualifications
2+ years’ experience operating manual and/or CNC lathes .
Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
Knowledge of CNC programming (G-code) is an asset.
High attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset.

- MUST be an experienced mill & lathe operator, preferred 5+ years of experience.

Machine Setup:

The above responsibilities are the basic expectations of any CNC operator, any actions above and beyond will be looked at favorably at review time.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- The below tasks may be asked of any CNC operator to be performed as needed.
- They should also be looked at as going above and beyond the expectations outlined above, during spare time and will be looked upon favorably during reviews.
- Cleaning and deburring parts.
- Emptying chip bins, and disposing of waste/oil coolant appropriately.
- Stamping.
- Washing shop floors.
- 5S organizing.
- Assembly of components as needed.
- During busy periods assist Supervisor and/or manager in the operation of the shop.
- During periods of the Supervisor's absence take over some responsibilities of the operation of the shop.
