GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Main Accountabilities

  • Review safety protocols and practices regularly with the maintenance team and maintenance manager to ensure adherence to the corporate safety program for all BC interior locations
  • Reviews shop status and vehicle repairs in process
  • Assigns repairs and tasks to technicians
  • Assists mechanics in troubleshooting and diagnosis
  • Constantly reviews vehicles that are in the shop for additional repairs or unsafe conditions
  • Works with Maintenance Manager to monitor shop safety and housekeeping
  • Meet with all BC interior Facility and Ops managers to set goal and expectations
  • Assists in reviewing and/or road testing major or safety related repairs.
  • Work with Maintenance Manager to manage related administrative matters for team, maintenance of employee records, records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, and recording of all information into RTA Maintenance Software, provide input for yearly budget for approval.
  • Manage the Local Provincial PMP and the standards set by the PM program

Qualifications:

  • Required - 3 - 4 years of experience as a general mechanic working on large diesel vehicles
  • Required - Red Seal Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic or Commercial Transport Repair.
  • 2 - 3 years of supervisory experience in a lead technician role, supervisor or other management role supervising 5-10 other mechanics
  • Thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, other Federal and Provincial regulations
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, read, estimate, calculate, interpret, measure and document in writing
  • BC CVI endorsement
  • Class three (3) drivers license an asset
  • Balance working on the floor and supervision 60% on the floor, 40% office

**The Impact You'll Make in this Role**

**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
- Effectively supervise the execution of the daily/weekly preventive and corrective maintenance tasks assigned to the team
- Recommend technical improvements for cost reductions and equipment maintainability and reliability
- Administrate work order system by generating notifications, closing work orders and recording data base and trends
- Participate in weekly planning meetings as well as in the major shut-down meeting to coordinate jobs with other departments
- Accurately report any abnormality in the weekly meetings, monitor job duration, cost and performance of crew and subcontractors working under their responsibility
- Collaborate with the planning team with the development/optimization of job planning and follow-up and provide feedback to the planning team about availability of his team
- Follow and report the Maintenance Planning KPIs, maintenance cost compared to budget, third party service cost analysis, unplanned downtime and work order efficiency and assist in preparing the annual maintenance budget
- Establish the training program needed for his personnel, schedule available suppliers training based on Frame Contract.
- Coordinate meetings with suppliers to check new/innovative developments or new techniques available to optimize the workload and the equipment and provide assistance in the mechanical design and execution of plant projects
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**
**Education:** University Degree
**Field of Study Preferred:** Mechanical Engineering
**Required Work Experience:** 5 years of maintenance experience in cement manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience

- Previous supervisory experience in a union environment

We are currently seeking a **Maintenance Supervisor** for a full-time, permanent position within our Gananoque facility. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead our site's maintenance programs, develop strategies to improve these programs to the latest industry's best practices. You will accomplish this by leveraging your team of highly skilled mechanical, electrical and facilities staff to collaborate with the operations and other site teams to achieve our site goals, within an FDA regulated 24/7 operation.
Key areas of responsibilities will be to deliver improvements to our site equipment reliability (OEE), maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), standardizing our preventative and predictive maintenance programs, while developing our entire workforce on maintenance excellence. This role also provides leadership to the supply's storeroom and maintenance information system (Maximo).
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ As a technical leader and a member of the Senior Management Team your daily actions are expected to be carried out as a role model in exhibiting such behaviors and fostering the development of our corporate values: accountable, tenacious, inventive, adaptable, enthusiastic, competitive, open, direct, respectful, trusted and inclusive
+ Implement maintenance excellence programs, technological advancements and best practices into our operations

+ Focus team around making reliable improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
+ Proven ability to implement robust solutions to re-occurring opportunities
+ Use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, and approaches to solving equipment problems. Must have strong analytical problem-solving skills
+ Work closely with the Operations and Engineering Teams to coordinate maintenance events to include resource planning, changeovers, preventative maintenance and project scheduling
+ Work with other Cardinal Health manufacturing facilities in spreading and adopting best practices
+ Help develop, train and mentor Team Leads, Maintenance and Operations personnel
+ Utilizes corporate capital processes to support project execution in a financially responsible fashion, in collaboration with Senior Leadership
+ Support operations & maintenance, project teams by providing direct technical expertise during trouble shooting, optimization, center lining and maintenance activities. · Coordinates and directs contractor activities
+ Responsible for seeing that all related activities are performed in a manner that complies with the Cardinal Quality Management, Safety or Environmental Management Systems, and all governing regulatory bodies
+ Ability to work flexible hours to support operations

**EDUCATION/TRAINING and/or EXPERIENCE:**
+ 3-4 Year College Diploma (in related field) and/or Undergraduate Degree in Engineering (preferred)
+ Minimum of 5-10 years industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience. At least 2-3 of those years in implementing reliability centered maintenance programs, principles, and equipment or process improvements
+ Have an understanding of continuously based maintenance (CBM)
+ Formal business management training, education and related experience (an asset)
+ Industrial/manufacturing process and/or packaging automation experience
+ Strong work ethic and a desire to exceed, must be a change agent
+ Ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams
+ Open and engaging to effectively interface with others
+ Good verbal and written communication skills
+ Working knowledge of quality system regulations
+ Maintenance Information System experience (Maximo preferred)
+ Proven track record of ability to handle multi-tasks simultaneously. Must be able to make decisions in an independent mode, if necessary

We are currently seeking a full-time Maintenance Supervisor .

Purpose
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervision and maintenance of all daily operations and maintenance of Infrastructure buildings, equipment, tools, Public Works Systems (including Water Treatment System, Sewer and Wastewater Management System, roads, hydrants, culverts, ditches, parks, etc) In addition, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, scheduling, and quality control of all Maintenance & Public Works Staff.

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Infrastructure & Development Manager, the duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Supervisor include, but are not limited to, the following:

Public Works Infrastructure & Maintenance

Water Treatment System, Sewer, and Wastewater Management System

  • Supervise the monitoring and quality control of the communitys public works assets, including water treatment system, sewer, wastewater management system, fire hydrants, surface water management, including ditches and culverts, manholes, etc.
  • Supervise the maintenance relating to the water treatment system, sewer, and wastewater management system.
  • Assist the Infrastructure & Development Manager with required inspections, meetings, reports, etc relating to the water treatment system, sewer, and wastewater management systems.
  • Together with the Infrastructure & Development Manager, create standard operating procedures and daily reporting methods/logs for all public works systems, and ensure timely execution of all.
  • Respond to and/or supervise after hours call-outs as needed, for the operation and emergency maintenance of all water treatment systems, sewer, and wastewater management systems.
  • Additional Supervision & Maintenance duties as requested and approved by the Infrastructure & Development Manager

Community Infrastructure & Maintenance

  • Supervise the maintenance of roads, bridges, culverts, ditches, fences, trails, pathways, parks, and around/in all buildings etc., as needed.
  • Assist with housing related maintenance and repair, as requested.
  • Together with the Infrastructure & Development Manager, create standard operating procedures and daily reporting methods/logs for all Community Infrastructure Maintenance requirements, and ensure timely execution of all.
  • Respond to and/or supervise after hours call-outs as needed, for the operation and emergency maintenance of all Community Infrastructure & Maintenance systems.
  • Additional Supervision & Maintenance duties as requested and approved by the Infrastructure & Development Manager.

Vehicles, Small Engines and Equipment/Tools

  • Ensure vehicles, equipment, and machinery/tools receive regular service, and maintenance work is done asrequired. This includes, checking and replacing small engine parts and making minor repairs, sharpening and replacing saw blades and chains on all applicable equipment as required, ensuring vehicles, equipment, and machinery have adequatefluids prior to use.
  • Supervise and ensure completion of all inspections/walk-arounds and logs required of all vehicles, equipment, and machinery/tools as applicable, prior to each use.
  • Manage inventory and daily use of all tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Together with the Infrastructure & Development Manager, create standard operating procedures and daily reporting methods/logs/ for all Vehicles, Small Engines, and Equipment/Tools requirements, and ensure timely execution of all.

Emergency Management

  • If requested, take an active part in the Emergency Planning Committee, including all meetings, training, call-outs, etc.

Administration

  • Create regular maintenance schedules for all community buildings, public works infrastructure, equipment, and tools, and supervise/undertake to ensure they are followed.
  • Together with the Infrastructure & Development Manager, create Standard Operating Procedures for the entire Maintenance & Public Works Department, including reporting requirements and execution.
  • Together with the Infrastructure & Development Manager, create lists of required tools, equipment, and staffing requirements for the purpose of budget preparation and purchasing.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Post-secondary education or formal training in Water Distribution, Small Water Systems Operator Certification and Wastewater Systems Operator Certifications preferred, but willing to train if required.
  • Post-secondary education or formal training in Maintenance Supervision (including equipment & building maintenance, repair, construction, and tool maintenance), extensive experience will also be considered.
  • Willingness to actively participate in all training offered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to step in and fix equipment as required.
  • Understanding of climate change and resilience.
  • Carpentry skills and experience are considered an asset.
  • Clear and concise communication style both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Cultural knowledge and sensitivity
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the overall supervision of millwrights and electricians in a unionized manufacturing environment.

  • Oversee and direct plant projects that involve our own employees or outside contractors
  • Effectively handle employee issues including in accordance with the collective agreement.
  • Assist with the implementation of capital projects.
  • Plan and implement PM’s on equipment as required.
  • Must be knowledgeable and be able to follow GMPs, Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements

Salary Range: $65,000-$85,000


Experience & Education
  • The ideal candidate should have a trade certification as a Licensed Millwright or Licensed Electrician
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a post secondary education or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3+ years as a maintenance supervisor experienced in a unionized, strongly automated, fast paced manufacturing facility.
  • Food, beverage or packaged goods industry is a definite asset.
  • Competence in PLC for troubleshooting and programming change would be an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of OHSA.
  • Proven track record of compliance and continuous improvement in improving safety in the workplace.
  • Ability to train Direct Reports.
  • Excellent knowledge of troubleshooting, adjusting or repairing of equipment.
  • Working knowledge of work orders and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience with food processing, CFIA, HACCP, Continuous Improvement Process, Six Sigma would be an asset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as project management skills.
  • Ability to develop, and foster a results-driven team.
  • Experience in working with operational budgets.
  • Knowledge of MS Office.
  • Flexibility to work alternating shifts including weekends and holidays.
