**Overview**
The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the completion of scheduled maintenance jobs using the highest level of safety, quality, and effectiveness at minimum cost to maximize equipment availability and optimize reliability.
**Responsibilities**
1. **Safety:** Ensure the safe and effective operation of the maintenance unit and in compliance with OH&S and environment policies for Maintenance personnel. Establish safety culture and tackle specific actions to ensure health and safety prevention during maintenance activities. Contribute to plant housekeeping and cleanliness. Serve as a role model in the areas of safety, environmental stewardship, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company's vision and critical success factors. Minimize frequency and severity of accidents of maintenance personnel and contractors via risk identification process.
2. **Environmental Considerations:** In consultation with the Environmental Manager, ensure that all regulatory requirements associated with the carrying out of operational duties are completed as required by the relevant regulation, certificate, or permit. Be familiar with and support the plant's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System including being aware of any specific duties outlined in the program.
3. **Mechanical Supervision:** Assign and review work to perform with millwrights. Maintain schedule priority and compliance. Complete maintenance related jobs according to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and effectiveness. Streamline job execution and associated repair costs. Upon completion of repairs, ensure that equipment is in good operating condition, ready to meeting operational requirements, completed alarm reviews, and job site is safe and clean. Responsible to develop and execute part of the annual training plan for all millwrights. Manage the garage operation and the maintenance of mobile equipment. Respond to emergency breakdowns to ensure prompt repairs.
4. **Reporting:** Provide reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator and feedback to millwrights on repair jobs including consumption of materials, tools, person-hours, and skill. Continuously report on maintenance performance during major overhauls and recommend corrective actions to maintain the department budget and schedule. Review equipment history files and ensure properly recorded histories in work order completions.
**Relationship with Others:**
+ The Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the Maintenance Coordinator. The Maintenance Mechanics (Millwrights) will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
+ Oversees the implementation of preventative maintenance actions, including the supervision of workers/contractors
**Specific Accountabilities:**
+ Supervise millwrights, execution team leader, garage mechanic as well as contractors when required to complement work crews.
+ Administer the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement in a fair, firm, and consistent manner. Provide grievance counseling as required.
+ Completions of work orders as per weekly schedule. Reassign work as per plant priorities and emergencies.
+ Ensure that maintenance activities comply with all legislated regulations and corporate policies.
+ Promote good relations and communication between the maintenance and production departments
+ Ensure productivity, housekeeping, and quality of work standards are maintained within the mechanical maintenance department.

**Qualification Profile**
**Education:**
+ Mechanical Engineering Technologist or Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright) certifications with relevant experience

+ Minimum 8 years' work experience in heavy industry

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

**Main Accountabilities**
+ Review safety protocols and practices regularly with the maintenance team and maintenance manager to ensure adherence to the corporate safety program for all BC interior locations
+ Reviews shop status and vehicle repairs in process
+ Assigns repairs and tasks to technicians
+ Assists mechanics in troubleshooting and diagnosis
+ Constantly reviews vehicles that are in the shop for additional repairs or unsafe conditions
+ Works with Maintenance Manager to monitor shop safety and housekeeping
+ Meet with all BC interior Facility and Ops managers to set goal and expectations
+ Assists in reviewing and/or road testing major or safety related repairs.
+ Work with Maintenance Manager to manage related administrative matters for team, maintenance of employee records, records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, and recording of all information into RTA Maintenance Software, provide input for yearly budget for approval.
+ Manage the Local Provincial PMP and the standards set by the PM program
**Qualifications:**
+ **Required** - 3 - 4 years of experience as a general mechanic working on large diesel vehicles
+ **Required** - Red Seal Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic or Commercial Transport Repair.
+ 2 - 3 years of supervisory experience in a lead technician role, supervisor or other management role supervising 5-10 other mechanics
+ Thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, other Federal and Provincial regulations
+ Must be able to communicate effectively, read, estimate, calculate, interpret, measure and document in writing
+ BC CVI endorsement
+ Class three (3) drivers license an asset
+ Balance working on the floor and supervision 60% on the floor, 40% office

**Main Accountabilities**
+ Review safety protocols and practices regularly with the maintenance team and maintenance manager to ensure adherence to the corporate safety program for all BC interior locations
+ Reviews shop status and vehicle repairs in process
+ Assigns repairs and tasks to technicians
+ Assists mechanics in troubleshooting and diagnosis
+ Constantly reviews vehicles that are in the shop for additional repairs or unsafe conditions
+ Works with Maintenance Manager to monitor shop safety and housekeeping
+ Meet with all BC interior Facility and Ops managers to set goal and expectations
+ Assists in reviewing and/or road testing major or safety related repairs.
+ Work with Maintenance Manager to manage related administrative matters for team, maintenance of employee records, records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, and recording of all information into RTA Maintenance Software, provide input for yearly budget for approval.
+ Manage the Local Provincial PMP and the standards set by the PM program
**Qualifications:**
+ **Required** - 3 - 4 years of experience as a general mechanic working on large diesel vehicles
+ **Required** - Red Seal Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic or Commercial Transport Repair.
+ 2 - 3 years of supervisory experience in a lead technician role, supervisor or other management role supervising 5-10 other mechanics
+ Thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, other Federal and Provincial regulations
+ Must be able to communicate effectively, read, estimate, calculate, interpret, measure and document in writing
+ BC CVI endorsement
+ Class three (3) drivers license an asset
+ Balance working on the floor and supervision 60% on the floor, 40% office

**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
- Effectively supervise the execution of the daily/weekly preventive and corrective maintenance tasks assigned to the team
- Recommend technical improvements for cost reductions and equipment maintainability and reliability
- Administrate work order system by generating notifications, closing work orders and recording data base and trends
- Participate in weekly planning meetings as well as in the major shut-down meeting to coordinate jobs with other departments
- Accurately report any abnormality in the weekly meetings, monitor job duration, cost and performance of crew and subcontractors working under their responsibility
- Collaborate with the planning team with the development/optimization of job planning and follow-up and provide feedback to the planning team about availability of his team
- Follow and report the Maintenance Planning KPIs, maintenance cost compared to budget, third party service cost analysis, unplanned downtime and work order efficiency and assist in preparing the annual maintenance budget
- Establish the training program needed for his personnel, schedule available suppliers training based on Frame Contract.
- Coordinate meetings with suppliers to check new/innovative developments or new techniques available to optimize the workload and the equipment and provide assistance in the mechanical design and execution of plant projects

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
The Maintenance Supervisor will coordinate and supervise mechanical or electrical maintenance activities to achieve the highest level of quality, safety and effectiveness to maximize equipment availability of plant equipment at the lowest optimum sustainable maintenance cost in compliance with OH&S and environmental rules and regulations, following the maintenance guidelines of the Cement Industrial Framework (iCIF) and Maintenance Management System (MAC).

**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
- Effectively supervise the execution of the daily/weekly preventive and corrective maintenance tasks assigned to the team
- Recommend technical improvements for cost reductions and equipment maintainability and reliability
- Administrate work order system by generating notifications, closing work orders and recording data base and trends
- Participate in weekly planning meetings as well as in the major shut-down meeting to coordinate jobs with other departments
- Accurately report any abnormality in the weekly meetings, monitor job duration, cost and performance of crew and subcontractors working under their responsibility
- Collaborate with the planning team with the development/optimization of job planning and follow-up and provide feedback to the planning team about availability of his team
- Follow and report the Maintenance Planning KPIs, maintenance cost compared to budget, third party service cost analysis, unplanned downtime and work order efficiency and assist in preparing the annual maintenance budget
- Establish the training program needed for his personnel, schedule available suppliers training based on Frame Contract.
- Coordinate meetings with suppliers to check new/innovative developments or new techniques available to optimize the workload and the equipment and provide assistance in the mechanical design and execution of plant projects

**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**
**Education:** University Degree
**Field of Study Preferred:** Mechanical Engineering
**Required Work Experience:** 5 years of maintenance experience in cement manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience
**Required Technical Skills:** SAP
**Additional Requirements:**
- Previous supervisory experience in a union environment
- Knowledge of cement production process
- Knowledgeable in FMEA and RCA
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities and propose improvement actions
- With valid driver's license
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests

Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, a related field or trade.
- 3 - 5 years working experience in the manufacturing industry in a leadership role (food manufacturing experience is considered a strong asset).
- 3+ years of working experience in a maintenance role (food manufacturing experience considered a strong asset ).
- Demonstrated experience in LEAN Manufacturing considered an asset.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and third-party software).
- Willingness to work off-hours/weekends as needed
- Strong working knowledge of process safety management and preventative maintenance program.
- Demonstrated ability to foster cooperation and teamwork within the workplace.
