**Overview**
The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the completion of scheduled maintenance jobs using the highest level of safety, quality, and effectiveness at minimum cost to maximize equipment availability and optimize reliability.
**Responsibilities**
1. **Safety:** Ensure the safe and effective operation of the maintenance unit and in compliance with OH&S and environment policies for Maintenance personnel. Establish safety culture and tackle specific actions to ensure health and safety prevention during maintenance activities. Contribute to plant housekeeping and cleanliness. Serve as a role model in the areas of safety, environmental stewardship, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company's vision and critical success factors. Minimize frequency and severity of accidents of maintenance personnel and contractors via risk identification process.
2. **Environmental Considerations:** In consultation with the Environmental Manager, ensure that all regulatory requirements associated with the carrying out of operational duties are completed as required by the relevant regulation, certificate, or permit. Be familiar with and support the plant's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System including being aware of any specific duties outlined in the program.
3. **Mechanical Supervision:** Assign and review work to perform with millwrights. Maintain schedule priority and compliance. Complete maintenance related jobs according to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and effectiveness. Streamline job execution and associated repair costs. Upon completion of repairs, ensure that equipment is in good operating condition, ready to meeting operational requirements, completed alarm reviews, and job site is safe and clean. Responsible to develop and execute part of the annual training plan for all millwrights. Manage the garage operation and the maintenance of mobile equipment. Respond to emergency breakdowns to ensure prompt repairs.
4. **Reporting:** Provide reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator and feedback to millwrights on repair jobs including consumption of materials, tools, person-hours, and skill. Continuously report on maintenance performance during major overhauls and recommend corrective actions to maintain the department budget and schedule. Review equipment history files and ensure properly recorded histories in work order completions.
**Relationship with Others:**
+ The Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the Maintenance Coordinator. The Maintenance Mechanics (Millwrights) will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
+ Oversees the implementation of preventative maintenance actions, including the supervision of workers/contractors
**Specific Accountabilities:**
+ Supervise millwrights, execution team leader, garage mechanic as well as contractors when required to complement work crews.
+ Administer the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement in a fair, firm, and consistent manner. Provide grievance counseling as required.
+ Completions of work orders as per weekly schedule. Reassign work as per plant priorities and emergencies.
+ Ensure that maintenance activities comply with all legislated regulations and corporate policies.
+ Promote good relations and communication between the maintenance and production departments
+ Ensure productivity, housekeeping, and quality of work standards are maintained within the mechanical maintenance department.
+ Aim to achieve 98% reliability on all major pieces of equipment

**Qualification Profile**
**Education:**
+ Mechanical Engineering Technologist or Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright) certifications with relevant experience
+ Extensive experience in heavy equipment repair; experience in inspection an asset.
**Experience and Skill Set:**
+ Minimum 8 years' work experience in heavy industry
+ Optimize skills adequate to jobs and ensure the transfer of technical know-how.
+ Proven experience in executing major work and plant shutdowns

**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
- Effectively supervise the execution of the daily/weekly preventive and corrective maintenance tasks assigned to the team
- Recommend technical improvements for cost reductions and equipment maintainability and reliability

**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**

What You’ll Be Doing
- Supervise and coach a team of maintenance technicians, setting the standard through example

Responsibilities :
- Supervision of maintenance workers and laborers
- In cooperation with the Regional Manager, determine priorities and work deadlines
- Facilitating weekly toolbox meetings
- Completing time sheets
- Completing and assigning maintenance requests
- Troubleshooting
- Performing minor repairs on heating, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, walls and flooring
- Moving furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies
- Removing trash and items from suites/grounds

Qualifications:

- Leadership experience leading by example

What you'll be working on:
- Responsible for supervising and motivating maintenance employees in all areas including safety, quality, and efficiency.

- Assist with enforcing guidelines (ISO, HACCP, and GMP) to ensure compliance with all applicable food safety standards.
- Participate and/or support in all internal and external maintenance audits.
- Assist with the development of SOP's and LOTO procedures for new and existing machinery/equipment.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, a related field or trade.
- 3 - 5 years working experience in the manufacturing industry in a leadership role (food manufacturing experience is considered a strong asset).
- 3+ years of working experience in a maintenance role (food manufacturing experience considered a strong asset ).
- Demonstrated experience in LEAN Manufacturing considered an asset.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and third-party software).
- Willingness to work off-hours/weekends as needed
- Strong working knowledge of process safety management and preventative maintenance program.
- Demonstrated ability to foster cooperation and teamwork within the workplace.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills with emotional intelligence.
- Experience working in a unionized work environment (considered an asset)
- Able to work in a cool environment (we mean that both ways- we're awesome and our plant is kept at a cool 2-4-degree temperature).
