Reporting to the Manager, Production Irradiator Engineering, you will be responsible for the design, testing and on-going technical and manufacturing support of production irradiator components.

You will work closely with the Project Management office and the Production Irradiator Controls team to deliver projects on-time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities

Apply a fully proficient and in-depth knowledge of engineering principles and standards.

Lead or participate in all aspects of the design and manufacture of irradiator components and assemblies. This will include leading the design process; coordinating prototype manufacture; performing safety analyses including engineering calculations, creating test specifications, coordinating and executing testing; compiling results and generating reports; and providing input to improve engineering processes.

Lead mechanical engineering projects and be fully accountable to meet defined budgets, schedules, and functionality requirements, commensurate with your work experience.

Be responsible for engineering approval on new designs to ensure they have met all the applicable engineering, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Stay current with the requirements for production irradiators for both dry and wet storage panoramic irradiators.

Be able to provide task guidance and quality control for activities of other team members.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical)

Experience: Minimum of five years relevant work experience in mechanical engineering

Certificates: Professional Engineer designation or be eligible for accreditation as a professional engineer.

Skills and Competencies

Technical experience and competencies:

Design and engineering analysis of mechanical systems and components,

Basic mechanical stress/strength calculations,

Design, prototyping, testing and troubleshooting of mechanical or electromechanical equipment used for manufacturing processes,

Simple thermal analysis and calculations

The following aspects would be considered an asset:

Prior experience in nuclear industry.

Prior experience in the design, analysis and manufacture of conveyor systems.

Competency in finite element analysis using SolidWorks (or other) software tools;

Familiarity with welding and more specifically weld design, specification and qualification;

Some exposure to radiation shielding design and analysis;

Competencies

Excellent verbal communication skills. You must be able to clearly explain complex technical, regulatory and compliance aspects to non-technical audiences.

Proven ability to exercise sound technical judgments on complex decisions falling outside standard practices and procedures.

Experience providing technical recommendations with limited review from senior staff, providing technical guidance to other engineers and to technicians, and providing review and feedback on technical items.

Excellent technical writing skills.

Effective team player

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

About the Opportunity

The Associate is the day to day manager for all activities within the group, including all technical, scheduling, project management and personnel issues.


Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Build key customer relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Work with staff from various departments to increase sales opportunities and maximize revenue.

  • Facilitate coordination and communication within the Group to support smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Inform Group members of any upcoming scheduling issues.
  • Monitor Production Utilization & Efficiency for the Group, reporting any deficiencies to the Principal.

Mechanical Engineering Manager

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering, the PI Mechanical Engineering Manager will oversee and lead a Mechanical Engineering team, handling all aspects of engineering, such as design, development, qualification/validations, manufacturing verification and installation of production irradiators. In addition to working closely with drafters, designers, and electrical/controls engineers, this role will collaborate with the Principal Engineer on the technical aspects of the projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Control Engineering team, commercial operations, procurement, and customers to review RFEs and engineering quotes for new and retrofit projects involving mechanical equipment.
  • Efficiently manage change control processes in line with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain engineering and design-related policies, procedures, and training protocols.
  • Develop strong relationships with Control Engineering Sales, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Operations and Facilities, Design Office, Global Logistics, as well as external customers and suppliers.
  • Manage team budgets and resources effectively.
  • Ensure timely execution of customer deliverables, adhering to timelines and budgetary commitments.
  • Develop and maintain team objectives and career development plans for a growing team.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry tools and training to foster ongoing professional growth.

AECOM is looking for a **Mechanical Engineer - Hydroelectric Turbines** with strong experience in the design, selection, and integration of heavy rotating equipment - specifically hydraulic turbines and large-capacity pumps - for hydroelectric and pumped storage projects. This position focuses on the performance, reliability, and operability of mechanical systems in high-energy environments.
The main responsibilities of this position include, among others:
+ Providing engineering services and advice regarding the design, manufacturing, and installation of turbine and generator components for new plant construction or refurbishment of units;
+ Conducting feasibility studies and preliminary projects for new units and modernization of units, including technical audits at plants, client needs analysis, and report writing;
+ Preparing technical specifications for procurement or refurbishment of units;
+ Verifying compliance with contractual technical requirements of documentation produced by suppliers, such as drawings, calculation notes, manufacturing procedures, purchase specifications, assembly procedures, etc.;
+ Monitoring workshop manufacturing and on-site assembly of units, including reviewing non-conformance reports and technical modification requests;
+ Selecting, optimizing, and hydraulically sizing turbines based on curves and tests on reference hydraulic models, and witnessing tests on models or prototypes;
+ Coordinating mechanical interfaces of turbine-generator units with civil, mechanical, and electrical works of power plants;
