Responsibilities:

Team Support and Development

You will support the mine planning team and other technical disciplines by providing guidance, training, and mentorship. Your role will involve helping the team to develop and follow core processes and uphold technical standards. Additionally, you'll promote a culture of safety and well-being for yourself and your colleagues through active leadership in safety practices.


Mine Planning Engineering Expertise

You will leverage an advanced understanding of mining engineering principles to guide the development of design surfaces, schedules, and costs for life of mine, tailings, and closure plans following industry best practices. Also, you will apply foundational mine planning principles to assist in closure plan development.


Proposal Development

You will be responsible for leading the proposal development process by outlining work scopes and estimating both project schedules and costs. Additionally, you will prepare, review, and authenticate advanced technical documentation and reports to guarantee their technical quality and assurance.


Project Management

You will manage all aspects of projects, including overseeing the budget, scope, and schedule. You will also facilitate workshops and conduct risk assessments and analyses with various stakeholders and external project support.


Stakeholder Interaction

You will interact competently with both internal and external stakeholders who possess varying levels of expertise. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients is crucial, as it helps foster existing relationships and can lead to generating new leads, opportunities, or referrals.


Mine Planning Investigation

You will help review mine planning investigations to support tailings and mine projects, including site investigations and monitoring data. Experience with trade-off studies and resource evaluation techniques is advantageous.

+ Managing projects and providing engineering consultation to both internal and external clients on all aspects of rock mechanics design;

**Job Description**
We have an opportunity for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer in a full-time position on AECOM Canada's Mining and Industrial team in Burnaby, BC.
You have an opportunity to join AECOM an end-to-end provider of sustainable engineering services for major projects and supporting existing operations. You can make a difference by becoming a valued member of our team as we deliver on our goal to make the world a better place.
The Intermediate Electrical Engineer role will require an individual with at least 5 years as an engineer in an engineering firm or relatable environment. The individual will have a good knowledge of electrical design requirements allowing the individual to work as part of a remote team. The individual is expected to work with some autonomy but with sufficient self-confidence to understand when to seek guidance from a Senior Electrical Engineer. The ability to understand written scopes of work, the ability to coordinate work meticulously as part of a team and the willingness to be responsible for the quality of your own work is essential.
The individual should have sufficient background to understand the steps associated with a complete electrical design - communicating a need for additional details or standards where their experience and knowledge of typical construction details for mining or heavy industrial related electrical works projects requires supplemental information.
The Intermediate Electrical Engineer will adhere to AECOM or client standards for design and will work under the direction of the Senior Engineer or Lead Engineers. The Intermediate Engineer will have the ability to manage their time to prepare deliverables in accordance with project schedule and budget.
The Intermediate Electrical Engineer will collaborate in a team and can assist in the improvement of standard methods and procedures. It is expected that the Intermediate Engineer will identify their training needs to the Senior Electrical Engineer or Team Lead to allow AECOM to focus investments appropriately to advance the Intermediate Engineer's career in alignment with our mining group strategic requirements.
Excellent communication skills will be required for this role for clarity in scope communications, and confirmation of team expectations of the Intermediate Engineer's assignments.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Ability to plan and design the development of power and grounding system models (eTAP, CDEGs or equivalent), lighting and low-tension systems (i.e. fire alarm, security, CCTV, communications network, etc.).
+ Ability to plan and design the production of drawings and functional descriptions / specifications for complete automation systems including field and panel control devices and SCADA for various processes including ore mining materials handling systems, water/wastewater treatment and other industrial applications.
+ Ability to plan and produce procurement packages for Electrical equipment and installation scope of work to facilitate project tender process, including the production of relevant supporting engineering design documentation.
+ Applying typical standards to complex electrical design problems
+ Adhering to client CAD standards and styles, quality assurance and quality control procedures during drawing planning and production.
+ Participating in model checks and drawing design checks as part of the QA/QC procedure for others' work.
+ Plan and produce engineering reports using sound engineering logic and written expression in English that are cohesive, clear and concise on Electrical subject matters.
+ Demonstrate creativity, proactiveness, foresight and judgement in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery, technical and client challenges.
+ Ability to work with Senior Engineers to review Electrical aspects of Shop Drawings, prepare and issue responses to contractor queries.
+ Ability to attend site inspections and prepare inspection reports.
+ Adhere to accuracy, completeness and quality of technical aspect on project documentation produced in accordance with AECOM QA/QC procedures and the clients' standards.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent 4+ years Electrical engineering design experience in a multidisciplinary team environment for heavy industry such as mining, including field services during construction phase of projects.
+ Registered as a Professional Engineer ("P.Eng.") in British Columbia.
+ Possess current knowledge and ability to interpret and apply the relevant industry standards (CSA, ANSI, ISA, IEEE, NFPA, etc.) and their application for compliant designs.
**Preferred qualifications:**
+ Proven track record in design and production of engineering documents such as procurement packages (scope of work, equipment datasheets / specifications), P&IDs, single line diagrams, control network diagrams, electrical and instrument location drawings, loop & schematic wiring diagrams, cable & tray calculations, cable schedules, load list and instrumentation lists.
+ Proven track record in the design of low and medium voltage distribution, substation designs, grounding designs, transformers, UPS and interface with controllers such as Rockwell PLCs.
+ Able to travel by domestic air travel within Canada.
+ Capable of collaborating and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
+ Experience in the design of standby generation system, Power Factor Correction specifications, high-voltage transmission line systems, interface with controllers such as Delta V DCS.
+ Experience in working with drafting and modelling software such as AutoCAD and Navisworks.
+ Experience in working with Microsoft Project, OneDrive and Sharepoint.
+ Critical thinking to identify issues, present solutions and follow through to achieve completion.

WSP is growing and has an opportunity for an intermediate geological engineer to join our mine stability team. You will be responsible for supporting complex projects, mentoring and delegating work to junior engineers, and promoting WSP's strong health and safety culture. **What you can expect to do here:**
+ Managing projects and providing engineering consultation to both internal and external clients on all aspects of rock mechanics design;
+ Supporting underground and surface rock mechanics projects, including data collection and field investigations, rock mass characterization, analyses, and design recommendations;
+ Mentoring junior and intermediate engineers and providing supervision to ensure the successful completion of projects;
+ Delegating work to junior engineers and providing supervision to ensure the successful completion of projects.
+ Undertake and/or supervise field work as required;
+ Undertake and/or supervise modeling work as required;
+ Support business development and marketing initiatives in the Western Americas and globally;
+ Maintain our health and safety culture;
+ Maintain a strong culture of publishing new and innovative findings.
**What you'll bring to WSP:**
+ Undergraduate or graduate degree in geological, civil, or mining engineering;
+ At least 8 years of industry or consulting engineering experience;
+ Must be eligible to register as a professional engineer in British Columbia;
+ Experience with soil mechanics would be an asset;?
+ Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment;
+ Ability to train and mentor junior engineering staff;
+ Willingness to travel, both nationally and internationally?
**Compensation:**
Salary range (in British Columbia): $91,200 - $125,400

POSITION OVERVIEW

Technical Sales Representatives/Engineers will be responsible for the sales and marketing of our full line of mining products and equipment for the Shotcrete, Tunneling and Mining Business Unit. The employee should represent the best interests of Sika when dealing with mining companies, consulting engineers and contractors. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Market our full line of products in the BU to the engineering communities for the purpose of developing specifications, to contractors, as well as distributors.
  • Provide on-site technical support on projects for our line of products.
  • Perform sales activities in a designated territory to increase market share and drive top line sales performance.
  • Recommend sales forecast, discount targets and budgeted expenditures.
  • Visit shotcrete crews providing the following service; monitoring material performance, training, provide suggestions on dust and rebound levels reduction, explain proper equipment maintenance and operating procedures.
  • Participate and complete RFQs/tenders when specifying our products.
  • Conduct “lunch and learns” and other seminars or presentations for distributors, contractors and engineering companies.
  • Assist technical staff with any on-site problems and responding to specific customer complaints
  • Perform field testing and complete detailed results reporting.
  • Participate in trade shows and taking an active role in industry associations.
Qualifications

  • Civil, Mining or Geotechnical Engineering Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • 2- 3 years of relevant mining experience
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Highly analytical
  • Self-starter and ability to work unsupervised

WORKING CONDITIONS/ PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • All safety training including WHMIS, confined space, working at heights is an asset
  • Knowledge and training to physically apply shotcrete with associated equipment
  • Ability to lift up to or exceeding 20KG
  • Uniform provided and follow industry standards for PPE relating to mine site or construction site
  • Much time spent underground in varying temperatures
  • Required to travel and spend time in remote areas

Vehicle/ Driver’s License Requirements:

  • Company vehicle provided.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and comply with Sika Fleet Safety Policy requirements.
  • Technical Sales Representatives has responsibility for prudent care and protection of company assets.
