Position Overview

The successful candidate will join the IntelliDealer Engineering team at VitalEdge Technologies as a Senior Software Engineer supporting our efforts to deliver modern solutions to our dealer base. As part of the Core Product Team, you will join a team of dedicated developers looking at new and existing solutions to build added value to dealers by applying process analysis to implement designs that deliver an efficient product that solves the challenges faced by our dealer community.

The successful candidate will be a full stack engineer who is able to analyze, comprehend and improve a variety of software languages and deliver effective, performant, and maintainable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze and deliver software solutions that solve customer challenges
  • Perform testing to ensure products solve customer challenges and minimize defects
  • Review and debug code
  • Contribute to the overall architecture of IntelliDealer through discussion and planning
  • Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
  • Collaborate with internal teams to fix or improve the product
  • Collaborate with the documentation team
  • Upon successful training, will participate in the on-call schedule covering evening hours approximately 1 week each quarter
  • Mentoring less experienced engineers

Required Skills & Education

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent education/experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience required
  • Experienced in an Agile software development framework
  • Analysis and Design experience
  • Experience and training in formal software testing methods

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to a breadth of programming languages with expert level proficiency in at least one language. Java, Spring and ReactJS are assets
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and demonstrate problem solving and resourcefulness in obtaining information
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Work as a team member, with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated time management and completion of tasks to a definite deadline
  • Database experience an asset (Postgres, DB2)

What You'll Bring to the Table

We're looking for candidates who are passionate, experienced, and eager to make an impact:

  • A degree  in Computer Science (or related field) - a Master's degree is a bonus!
  • 5+ years of software development experience , with expertise in backend development.
  • A strong foundation in data engineering , including designing practical data schemas and working with large-scale distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL, C#, .NET, and Typescript —and a willingness to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Experience with Agile processes , source control (Git) , and delivering web-based applications to end users.
  • Bonus: Knowledge of automotive data  is a plus but not required.
  • Flexibility to travel for customer and team engagements when needed.

Job Description

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Mobile Developer is responsible for coding and modifying the company’s enterprise mobile application in line with company specifications. This role manages the technical performance, ensures optimal functionality, and handles capacity requirements. The Mobile Developer will work closely with other development teams and stakeholders to ensure the mobile application meets customer needs and aligns with business objectives, while assisting with other duties as assigned to support ongoing development and optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Create clean, well-structured, and reusable code with a strong problem-solving approach, adhering to company standards and requirements documentation.

  • Work with internal teams to ensure the mobile application's performance and functionality are aligned with both internal and external requirements.

  • Integrate and maintain APIs, ensuring seamless communication between the mobile application and backend systems.

  • Review requirements documentation and provide feedback to ensure the mobile app is developed to meet all necessary specifications.

  • Identify and address issues, working proactively to find effective solutions during the development process.

  • Stay updated on new mobile development technologies, trends, and best practices to continually improve the company’s mobile assets.

  • Publish updates and new features to iOS and Android platforms.

  • Propose and implement innovative solutions to challenges encountered during development and deployment.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of a College Diploma in Computer Science, Software Development, Mobile Computing, or a related field.

  • At least 2 years of experience in mobile development, with experience in both iOS and Android platforms preferred.

  • Previous experience in enterprise-level mobile applications is a strong plus.

Skills & Aptitudes

  • Proficiency in React Native is required.

  • Experience with native iOS development (Swift/Objective-C) and/or Android development (Kotlin/Java) is highly encouraged.

  • Solid understanding of mobile application architecture, APIs, and relational database systems.

  • Experience working with RESTful APIs, including consuming data and firing APIs.

  • Ability to interpret complex requirements and meet aggressive timelines for development.

  • Familiarity with app store deployment processes (Apple App Store, Google Play Store).

  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks independently with minimal direction.

  • Experience with mobile UI/UX principles and responsive design.

  • Familiarity with cloud services, push notifications, and mobile security best practices.

  • Experience with Confluence and Jira.

  • Experience with Figma is a nice to have.

  • Experience working with offline workflows and ensuring functionality in limited or no connectivity environments is an asset.
