NURSE PRACTITIONER
Albert and Parliament Primary Health Care Centre in Regina, SK is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Nurse Practitioner. Reporting to the Lead Physician, the Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing holistic, patient-focused primary health care services, including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients across the lifespan.
If you have a minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in primary health care or family practice, then this job is for you! This position is part of a newly developed Innovation Fund between the Saskatchewan Government and medical clinics in Saskatchewan; therefore, this position is temporary until March 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive health assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and establish treatment plans.
- Diagnose and manage common acute and chronic conditions in adults, children, and seniors.
- Prescribe medications, perform minor procedures, and provide appropriate follow-up care.
- Document all patient interactions, assessments, treatments, and referrals thoroughly and accurately.
- Refer patients to physicians, specialists, or other healthcare providers as appropriate.
- Provide patient education, counselling, and support for lifestyle modification and chronic disease self-management.
- Promote preventive care such as immunizations, screenings, and wellness checks.
- Lead or support health education workshops or community wellness initiatives when applicable.
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality, coordinated care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning.
- Act as a resource and mentor to other staff and learners where applicable.
Qualifications:
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current licensure as an RN (NP) in good standing.
- Minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in primary health care or family practice.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS - Level C) required.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), especially Accuro, is an asset.
