Location
This position is based in Ontario, Canada, with flexible work arrangements available. Occasional travel to project sites and OPG facilities will be required.
Responsibilities
• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for engineering teams across Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation & Controls, and Civil/Structural disciplines.
• Ensure all engineering deliverables meet Canadian nuclear regulatory standards (e.g., CSA N-series, CNSC requirements).
• Serve as the primary engineering liaison with OPG and other key stakeholders.
• Drive technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across all engineering functions.
• Oversee resource planning, team training and development, and performance management for engineering staff.
• Support proposal development, project planning, and client presentations.
• Ensure integrated and optimized project delivery through effective coordination across disciplines.
• Encourage and challenge the engineering team to drive “fit for purpose” solutions while being fully compliant with nuclear codes and standards.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables, vendor documentation, and technical specifications.
• Identify and manage risks, scope changes, and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Foster a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement and collaboration within the engineering organization.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil); Master’s degree preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario is required.
• Active OPG security clearance.
• Minimum 20 years of engineering experience, with at least 10 years in nuclear projects.
• Direct experience with Ontario Power Generation (OPG). Knowledge of Ontario Power Generation’s processes, procedures, tools particularly the ECC process, AS9 (Asset Suite 9), EBOM etc. Knowledge also of Bruce Power processes, procedures and tools will be an asset.
• Fully trained in all the CBT’s and other applicable training programs to deliver the role under OPG’s design qualifications and Project Management program.
• Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
• Deep understanding of Canadian nuclear codes and standards (e.g., CSA N290, N299, N285).
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficiency in engineering analysis tools relevant to each discipline (e.g., ETAP for electrical, FEA for mechanical, structural analysis software).
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in nuclear environments.

What You Will Be Responsible For
- Leading the end-to-end project management of natural gas power generation facilities, from design and construction to operation.
- Assisting procurement in specifying electrical equipment and coordinating with engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Providing engineering recommendations and technical support for power generation and electrical engineering design, scope of work, and equipment procurement.
- Assisting with cost allocation/estimation, budgeting, resource planning, scheduling, and overall project management.
- Establishing technical standards for reviews, documentation, and designs.
- During the construction process, verifying that all equipment matches requirements and follows the design, ensuring all equipment and installations meet standards, and confirming all necessary tests have been completed and satisfy code requirements.
- Providing technical support for new site development.
- Performing power system modeling, analysis, and design.
- Monitoring construction progress, quality control, and commissioning activities.
- Managing project documentation, permits, and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Resolving technical and logistical challenges to minimize delays and cost overruns.
- Complying with local, state, and federal regulations to uphold the company's reputation.
- Communicating engineering information across teams and departments to facilitate the successful completion of large-scale projects.

How You Will Stand Out

**What you can expect to do here:**
+ Establish design criteria, prepare engineering specifications, design calculations, material take offs (MTO) in accordance with project requirements.
+ You'll support the planning, scheduling, cost control activities in the design as related to the Project Plan
+ You'll propose solutions for improving or optimizing processes, programs, and procedures. Assist in resolving complex problems requiring a comprehensive and detailed analysis and multi-disciplinary understanding.
+ You'll Contribute to knowledge transfer by providing functional guidance, coaching and peer review to the team's less experienced professionals or to technicians.
+ You'll participates in the planning and implementation of large and complex projects requiring innovative solutions.
+ You'll Conducting on-site inspections as required.
+ You'll detailed civil and structural designs, which include concrete foundations, piling, steel structures etc.
+ You'll Prepare documentation for engineering hours budgets, schedules, work plans, tender documents, technical reports, project calculations etc.
+ You'll assign, give instructions and providing directions to technical support staff.
+ You'll establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and team members.
+ You'll ensure the Quality Assurance, consistency, and integrity of the electronic handover of deliverables.
+ You'll be responsible for reviewing and stamping drawings (as required); using experience in interpreting design codes and regulatory requirements.
+ You'll check work of and assist in the training of less experienced engineering personnel.
+ You'll communicate with internal peers and project team and may be required to answer questions regarding deliverables.
**What you'll bring to WSP:**
+ A university degree in Structural Engineering (MSc or PhD would be an asset).
+ Registered as a P.Eng or PE in a Provincial Engineering Association in Canada or US.
+ 5+ years and over experience in the engineering of civil structural designs in energy industry.
+ Ideally experience with power plants, dynamic foundations and/or rotating equipment.
+ Working knowledge of software's like SAP2000, ETABS, S-Frame, STAAD Pro, Dyna6 etc.
+ Experience with Python would be an asset.
+ Good report writing skills.
+ Familiarity with relevant design codes for Concrete and Steel Structures, and also current Industrial standards.
+ Proficient in MS Office.
+ A team player with strong communication and inter-personal skills.
+ Solid organization and time management skills.

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented Structural Engineer to join WSP's dynamic team.
